ATI Powermodule Hybrid Club

Guys with 60" units, i see that T5s are not dimmable is it a problem to set up a correct program or how corals react if you run T5s at full run? i am looking into 80w and seems like there is no dimmable t5s on the market...

pacific sun hybrid / ati hibrid

What is the best ?

Pacific sun t5+led or ati t5+led ?

Thank

It depends on your preference. They're both nice... and expensive fixtures. If you want your tank to be lighted predominantly by T5 bulbs then go with ATI. If you want mostly LED with T5 supplement, then the Pac Sun Pandora.

There are no suitable ballasts for the US market. We have 80w dimmable in the UK which run on 240v and UK frequency.

Having said that, there is NO issues running 80w T5's at their intended power. Dimming T5 is a bonus. Before ATI brought out dimmable units people were using their T5's at full pelt.

If you run the T5's for 6-8 hours and run the LED's ramping up and then ramping down for 8-10 hours, this is just fine. See how your corals do, raise the fixture or run the T5's slightly shorter length of time.

Like I said above, the dimming is a bonus...there are plenty of people running the 80w T5's units for years...so just because the shorter lengths have dimming doesnt make the 80w units somehow bad for corals.

Hope that makes sense.

Thank you Sahin..
I didnt know that :) .. Yes, you right ,plenty of people who is using 80w units.. My only concern how this effect on hybrid unit as far as programing.
Do you know if the T5 channels can go on deferent time?

If you get the 8 tube model, then I assume it would be split over two channels. All the 8 tube dimmable models are...so I cant see why that would be any different-the dimming is separate thing to splitting the T5's over two channels. Best check with ATI USA or some place like ReefGeek who sell them. Just give them a call.

As far as programming, it doesnt make much difference at all. The only difference would be that you wont be able to set INTENSITY, it will be 100% for the T5's.

But you will have PLENTY of options on the LED side for dimming, Cloud sweeps, sunrise effect, customisation of 4 channels of LED's etc.

Hey Mike,

Your tank is big so you'll definitely need 8 bulbs fixture :)
Stop by some day I gonna be more than happy to show you how it works and eventually help.

Mark

Mike.... How big is your tank again? I know it will cost more but you could always get 2x36" or 1x48" and 1x36" models if the dimming is something you really want.

Hey steve,
my tank is 72x36x24, and 60" fixure would be ideal but dimming would be very nice dont you think so
hows everything by you?
