automatic water change

Sorry, gave them to Matt for helping me redo my aquascaping and catching/killing a 4" gorilla crab that has been terrorizing my tank

Controls finished, tested, and good to go!!!

Don't that look all professional and stuff :D

Just need to label everything now before I lose the piece of paper that says what plugs in where.....

I just ordered the rest of what I need for mine.

And got another PM2 for my apex. May get another conductivity probe with it to monitor salinity. Mainly need it for the BoB to hook up a couple float switches on the tank for the water changes.

If anyone is following this I thought I should take a reading today April 12th. Salinity at 1.026; starting to think there is no drift in salinity.

Today Marvin and Matt are coming over to help me clean up my tank; it's very overgrown. Also my anemone's keep splitting and I need to get rid of some. I'll be doing a large water change as part of this so I won't be able to monitor the salinity drift(if I even have one)

thanks, i have been following. i completed my AWC system this weekend and so far so good! i have a 300 gallon water change vat and a Stenner Pump doing about 12.5 gallons per day; controlled by my Aquacontroller 2. Thanks for posting your ideas, i would have never thought this could be so easy!!!

Wow thats 375 gallons a month!! How big is the tank?

WOW, that looks great. You should post this on they DIY section!

Eventually........need to revise the schematics to reflect a few changes I made during the wiring and testing phase, and write up the parts list.....

......but first I need to complete the plumbing for the AWC station and the two brute containers that this thing was made to automate. I've just been using an old salt bucket for the last month or so as the fresh salt water bucket for my AWC pump setup.....

.....a lamp timer, one relay, and one float was just two simple :lolspin:
Its been working great for the last month as the "budget" system though, I just couldn't resist super sizing things and making it fun (er, uh, complicated?) in the process.

I'll post a link back here to the full write up if/when I finally get around to posting it.

thats a lot of WC for sure. He rarely if ever has to dose, lol.

Heck, he wouldn't even need a skimmer or any other kind of filtration unless it is a crazy over loaded tank............but dang that's A LOT of money in salt...........but when did that matter in this hobby :lolspin: I still drive a '95 Taurus in order to feed my addiction.

So you're changing out more than 100% a month?

it's so easy...why not? i do use NSW so the cost is not to bad, about $100 a month. i have had NO3 problems so this should help, many fish and lite on live rock!!
