Bad or ok toadstool behavior?

I have had this leather for 5 years, and it has grown from a 1" nub to a 12" beast. In the last month it has been balling up parts and dropping them off. So far I have 5 new frags. I'm worried this is a survival, last ditch effort.

Phone + leds = bad pic. sorry

Reminds me of the sort of thing a kenya tree does. I never heard of such a thing from a toadstool. How is the main coral and frags doing?

Weird looking toadstool. Many leathers drop babies like that. I have a devil's hand that's doing it now.

Good sign, dropping baby frags is a very healthy sign. If it closes up it also can be growing. Thats hoe mine does it

Does anyone know where to get toadstools with that shape? I love it! It must be very rare in the trade. I don't know of any online dealers that ever sold such a thing, and I have looked at a great many.

Looks like it is dropping/has dropped quite a few babies. I've had my toadstool for about 2 years and it started its first split a few months back. It hasn't dropped but it definitely will change the shape when it does. A couple more like that and i'll be more ragged around the edges like the one in the above picture.

You could try a cabbage leather. The one pictured here looks like a cabbage leather.

I haven't been on in a while but thanks for all the input. All the babies and the big one are doing great and colored up. I'll do a little more digging and fine other pics, but it only started looking flat like that last year. It looked like a mushroom (not coral) for the first two years.
