Bandit angel and crosshatch trigger experiences

Thinking about getting these two and wanted to know experiences of those who have them. The bandit is 4" and the male CH is about 5". I know several on here that have these two but they also have other fish that command more attention. IE Personatus, conspic ect... Any and all experiences welcome.

I don't have a bandit but as you know I've done pretty extensive research on the bandits.

Personally I think a 4" bandit is on the larger size. I would prefer to have a 2" to 3" bandit.
From what I've read at the smaller size they are easier to get eating and adapt to captive live.

My experiences with angels has always been smaller the better.
Good luck.

I'm with you on the smaller the better but for one a inch smaller the price goes up 400$ or if I want a tiny one then then we are talking 1100$ more than the 4" one... I know the 4" is eating so that isn't as much of a concern

Bandit is one of my favorites and mine eat anything. I keep temps around 70-72 on.

The holding tank they will be put in won't have heaters on it so I would expect the temp to be around 70 maybe slightly higher or lower

Agree with you on the price issue. I would say if the one you've been offered is eating it's probably worth trying if it's a decent price.

Do you know how long it has been I captivity?

Btw I've been running my tank and Qt (that the Conspic is in) at ~75 degrees. Not sure if this is too warm or not but I haven't had any issues.

How is your new girl doing? The bandit has been in captivity for 3 weeks and it will have been held where it's at for a total of 5 weeks before it's shipped out to me. Rufus collected it so there are no worries there...

She's doing great eating like pig. Now trying to figure out how long I shoukd keep her in quarantine. I have not treated her with anything and I don't plan on doing so, unless something comes up.

So I've seen some places where they say you should do 8 weeks while others say a minimum of 2 weeks. I'm currently thinking 3 to 4.

I'd say if the price is decent and you know it's collected by Rufus I'd go for it.

I have three 5 inch male crosshatch and a 3.5 bandit. I got my crosshatch when they were only 3 inches. At first, it was hard to train the triggers to eat, it took two weeks before they started eating. But once they started to eat, they were very aggressive eater. So much so, that they were eating most of the food in the tank. Also, once they got comfortable in the tank, they started tail nipping and worse. they started taking out my anthias one by one. My chromis and barthletts, became one every week or two snack. It got to the point that I had to move them into a different tank.

As for the bandit, I think I went through at least 4-5 bandits before I got one that ate. The first 4 were larger ones. 4 inch a above. They ddnt eat at all and eventually died of starvation. My current bandit is around 3 inches. I got him from a buddy of mines who broke down. It was eating well in his tank. But recently, it started eat less and less. So, Im keeping an eye on him. The bandit is by far my favorite fish in my tank.

Thanks for the info, I'm thinking about possibly getting a smaller female CH and hoping she will change male, otherwise the male is significantly larger than I would like to get. They will be in a tank by themselves so there won't be anyone to "snack" on. I have everything I need now to force feed a fish if it comes down to it but I would rather not have a Bandit be the first one that's not a goldfish I try this with

I think, I went through 4 of them. The current one is the 5th. My advice to you is to get the smallest that you could get or afford. Its easier to train them to eat if they are smaller. I have a few friends that has them also, some of them had better success that I did.

With your conspic I would do 8 wks minimum 10 wks is better

Just curious, what is the force-feeding process?

It involves sedation medicine, a product called Stat which is used for puppies believe it or not and a feeding tube, in this case it would be a angiocatheter. Alprazo is the one who has helped me with it and is guiding me

I got my trio of Bandits from Rufus. They were small, under 2" each. I had a pretty easy time with them. They ate well for me and made it through qt relatively easily. They did stop eating because of Prazi on day three so I only put them through 1 round.

Thanks for the info Wayne. I do plan on putting her in a 125g by herself for QT and I wanted to do PP but if I do it will be after she is really eating well. Other than that just observation. I won't move her again until we move into the house we are building at the end of the summer

I got a 4.5" bandit and got it eating and then I followed that up with a 3". They both ate for me. I only ever bought two and they both were successful. Unfortunately I had to take down my tank, but when I make a return, they will be one of the first fish I get. Absolutely amazing fish.
For both of them, I started with live brine, then went to a mix of live and frozen brine, then just frozen, and then everything
