I have three 5 inch male crosshatch and a 3.5 bandit. I got my crosshatch when they were only 3 inches. At first, it was hard to train the triggers to eat, it took two weeks before they started eating. But once they started to eat, they were very aggressive eater. So much so, that they were eating most of the food in the tank. Also, once they got comfortable in the tank, they started tail nipping and worse. they started taking out my anthias one by one. My chromis and barthletts, became one every week or two snack. It got to the point that I had to move them into a different tank.
As for the bandit, I think I went through at least 4-5 bandits before I got one that ate. The first 4 were larger ones. 4 inch a above. They ddnt eat at all and eventually died of starvation. My current bandit is around 3 inches. I got him from a buddy of mines who broke down. It was eating well in his tank. But recently, it started eat less and less. So, Im keeping an eye on him. The bandit is by far my favorite fish in my tank.
