Bonsai Tree inspired Aquascape

Thanks guys. You cant see it but I also drilled a bunch of holes in the rock at various points so I can insert frag plugs rather than try and epoxy all the coral back on. Once I build the second structure I will ost that as well but won't be till after this one cycles. The other rocks are cured so I will think something up with those in the next few weeks.

Pimp tank man, my tank crashed so I'm gonna try a minimalist approach similar to what you've done! keep up the good work!

Right now I am building my new 100g reef. Inspired by you tank I had my totally redesigned.

Really inspired project.

Good luck Walter, your last tank was amazing, it was a trully inspiration for me, i hope your next to be as wonderfull as the last one was...do you intend to use some kind of reef controller system, you said your last reef suffered problems because the lack of time (caused by your work) you had to care about it, are you going to try something?

P.S.
Achei que era so eu do IPAq (Brasil) postando aqui, olha o Walter ai heheheheh..."

Thanks Felipe. I am moving from Salvador, going back to Rio, so I'll probably will have more time to watch the tank now.

Fala Felipe; Blz? Bom ver ipaquianos por aqui. Agente tem que aprender com os gringos, né? Grande abraço.

What kind of Expoxy are you guys using.
I am going to try and do a really unique rock setup for my 72 bow.
The major problem is that i don't have much depth on the corners. About 20" in the center and 12" in the corners.
I want most of SPS in the corners due to my halide placements.
I will be doing most of my Zoos LPS in the center.
I just need to get my hands wet.
Here is a pic of my tank now.
You guys have any ideas? I have some large montis in there.

Here is a pic of some of my large peices. I have no Idea what to do with these. I was thinking of keeping the mont caps together in the center of the tank. Towrds the bottom.

This is my favorite piece

I am also running a 72 Bow Gkimble. The rock structure I made on the previous page fits onto either side of my tank. I am cycling the rock right now in the tank. I can try and get a picture up of how it looks in there later tonight so you can get an idea of the room you have to work with. My vision was to build a taller structure since we have limited depth. Tall like a skyscraper but still have overhangs, tunnels, caves etc. I figure that will allow sps to be placed closer to the light source and where the flow will be higher and less demanding stock can thrive on the tank floor.

Here is one type of epoxy I use:

Its ike that billie mays mighty putty stuff..use it for mounting frags too.

mattnano,

Awesome aquascaping!

Question for you: How strong are those 1/2" acrylic rods? Ie how far do you think you could go without the rod flexing too much and snapping?

I'd like to do a similar structure in my 140, but i was hoping to achieve an overhang upwards of about 1 1/2 feet. I imagine I'd need a number of parallel rods...

I really like the look of this tank. I'll be doing something similar in my 30 cube when I set it up, for sure

Hi there,

Just to let you know that your aquascaping has inspired me soo much that I have bought a 6 x 2.5 x 2 foot tank. I should have gone for much larger depth but could not get it though my door unless they took the doors or main front room window. I didnt had a choice to have it made at home since the prices to have made at home were very expensive. I have been looking in to this thread form the very first day and have truly inspired me.

I am hoping to have one Bonzie Tree and two 20 inches tall towers. I really like the purple colour on your live rock and it looks lovely. I have very rarely seen this good colour on the rock. Are you using anything special to boost the purple colour on your live rock? If yes please could you kindly PM me. I will highly regard your kind help and look forward to hear from you very shortly. Also what cement did you use to put all the rocks togather? I am sorry if I have missed info on that topic.

By the way Happy new year,,,,,

Kind Regards

Tahir Iqbal
