Bryopsis possible solution

I can't remember the brand, but it is in a capsule, 150mg each, 4 capsules per strip. It only cost me roughly USD3.50 per strip. Obtainable off the counter without prescription. I asked the pharmacist and she told me that fluconazole has been used to fight algae in freshwater aquarium for so long.

I posted this previously, my gf is a nurse, this was her response when I told/asked about the drug, bahahahaha...

Ok cool thank you. I was going to order from there to but it seemed to good to be true as other sites were way more expensive than them. Just Leary about ordering from them with that in mind is all lol

Yes. This is the only equipment i have under my DT.
Now that's a long term problem that should be addressed. Soon. It'll be back, algae that is, in o.e form or another. Is that an instant ocean skimmer? C'MON MAN. 😆

It's a cheapo china made skimmer by the name of Dymax. :lol2: My tank has been running for 3 years, no algae issue since I switched to RODI a year ago. I got bryopsis from a zoa frag in October, pulled it out, and it pop up at 5 different places.

This is a great thread. I apologize for the Shitty husbandry remark, it was not my intention. Briopsis is the worst. Wouldn't wish it on anyone and am glad to see this may be working well for all. I simply paid close attention to your words and pics early in the thread. When I saw the size of tank, the briopsis, the Cyno, that 5 gallon sump, undersized skimmer... That's at some point will need upgrade. Your sump.on that particular tank should be where the chiller is and vice versa. I hope a works out and I will just read on.
Thanks everyone.

I will upgrade if i have to. It works better as compared to my 25G refugium before. Skimmer runs 9 hours a day. All my corals are happy, great PE and nice color.

Something to be said for the smaller sumps. Someone I knew had a 10 gallon under his 65 gallon display. Skimmer and heater, that's all. He drained and pulled it out religiously once a week. Cleaned it spotless in the kitchen sink, and put it back. Added new SW for the water he drained. Corals grew like mad.
In case he somehow managed to crack it, (which he never did), he had a couple of other tanks he had picked up at one of petco's dollar a gallon sales.

Somehow it works for me. I never do WC since started. I did change 5 gallons with NSW when i cleaned up my sump after 2.5 years mark. Let us go back to bryopsis discussion please. Happy reefing!

Ordered mine on 1/19/17, used the free shipping option. Came yesterday, 1/23/17.

Day 5 or 6 here (not in front of my whiteboard), it's definitely melting away and thinning out, some spots more than others.

Has anyone determined if it will kill off other algaes? I have a different algae taking over my tank and I'm trying to get rid of it... I haven't even been able to properly identify it yet

For me, the algae in my small scrubber seems intact so far. What's in my tank is a mix of hair and bryopsis but it's hard to distinguish because the leaves are falling off the bryopsis.

Other than bryopsis, there are no other type of algae in my system. GHA and chaeto can be controlled by nutrient starvation but not bryopsis. Thanks to the OP for this thread, I almost thinking of quitting this hobby.

I think you should mail me that frag rack and everything on it

:lol2: There are definitly some good ones in there!

Day 14 for me. Seems so much longer than 14 days but this stuff worked! I'll post a pic of the frag rack tomorrow. There is very little nuisance algae if any in my tank.

Even the hair algae was effected. I don't think to the extent as the bryopsis but one of my snails has been faithful to the frag rack and has since demolished any algae that was present. Prior to the treatment the snails were not successful at keeping the algae at bay.

I turned my skimmer back on a few days back and left the LEDs on for the entire treatment.
