c02 scrubbers

Where I work we have insturments that measures C02. And when we calibrate them we run them thru a canister of lime chips to remove as much C02 as possible. I was wondering if this would work on a skimmer to help in keeping c02 from being introduced into 5he tank be the skimmer?

Yes. They have exactly this to remove Co2 before going into the skimmer. I know Premium Aquatics have them. I've been considering trying one as well. I've talked to several people about them and they say they do make a difference.

I decided to switch my alk/ca dosing regimine from 2part to a kalk reactor to help raise my ph. Between having a bare bottom tank and being the time of year when I cant have a window open my ph was getting down to the 7.6* and thought I need to do something. I use a Litermeter to drive it. Currently I am pushing 4.5L of kalk / day and my ph at its lowest is around 7.88 and max ph is 8.15ish. My alk is 9dkh btw..

The reason I brought up the kalk dosing is because I know this does work. I personally don't know anybody running a co2 scrubber. The owner of the LFS I go to (A very good shop - not Petsmart lol) said they can be fairly expensive to operate. I guess the cartridges need frequent replacement.

Thanks for the link to the thread. I have a smaller skimmer and I think I will try this after I get my pg probe replaced. My bird bit thru the cord!

That bird has more lives than a cat! I has bitten thru a lamp cord and tripped the breaker and still survived with just an arc mark on the beak!

I had several birds and had to enclose the chords where I let them run loose in the basement in pvc tubes to keep them from chewing them. It worked well without a lot of effort on my part.

I'm trying CO2 scrubbing with soda lime ,about 10 days now. Gained a little more than a point ca 8.0 to 8.1 with a very small application. Here's the link from the local club(Upstate Reef Society forum ) on it:
