Care of African blue zoanthids...

i actually fraged my whole colony when they began melting. then i noticed them going better from then when i bought another colony i removed them from the rock they were on and they began doing better. i sold my whole first colony and now have alot of hornets scattered through out my tank. i think its the lava rock the come on that give them a reaction to it because my perameters are the same and they were in the same waterflow and are still at the bottom of my tank. my hypothesis is the rock they come on!!! but im not a scientist

Help!

Help!

My african blue zoas has begun its own self destruction. I have manually removed the rotten parts and dipped them in iodine mixed with seawater. Anything else I should do now?

:((

Good to strong undirect flow and high light. Treat it like a SPS.
I got it under a 250W MH, and only a MP40 to run the show in a 1.5ft cube. Too much indirect flow perhaps?

Got a vid of the tank with the vortech?
I will try.
Anyway managed to remove a nudi from the zoas. Crap! :S

just wanted to report my growth explosion.
Originally a frag of about 20. Many floated and I attached them to frag pieces and seperated into 3 different tanks. around 5 or 6 rotted or melted and I have 5 left that were always looking strong. This week had a growth explosion of 11 new babies.
These stayed in with the T5's on the sand in med flow

I just made 5 frags on my own colony this week. Some of them have babies on them too. Sorry for the bad pic, there was no light on so its just the flash providing light. These are odd polyps, many of them will stay open even after they have been taken out of the water.:eek1:

I have spread parts of my colony all around the tank. Actually all of them seem to be doing ok, even some in what I would consider low to medium light. But the best little group is up getting very high light and very high flow from a vortec. One of the polyps is now about the size of a nickel. Gee didn't somebody here on this thread suggest high light and high flow? :)

Another bad pic, but I think you can see enough.

I have had mine so far for about a Month and a week and they seem to be doing fine. I did not dip them. At first they were looking like I was about to lose them but I started doing a 5 gallon water change every week for a month now they are looking great.
They also love the 76-78 degree temps with Medium to High Flow and High intense lighting. I understand if it's a little to warm they will close up on ya... As for experience on one of these hot days my Tank temp went up to 79-81 degree's and they were closed up that's cause I forgot to lower my heater temp, but anyhow that's my take on them.

Here is a shot of them.

All but a couple of mine melted after the first few days and were all gone after 1 week. Another $20 down the drain. So sad, because these were my favorite by far.

I got some a few weeks ago and the LFS I got them from had them about a foot away from a 400 watt MH and they were growing great. Mine havnt grown at all but they are doing good

Both the frags I have the one I dipped in Revive and the other I did nothing to are both showing growth so far with 2-3 new heads on each frag. They are on the bottom in the sheltered cross fire from two Tunze Nano Streams in a 30 breeder with 234w of T-5 6" off the water.

Eric i normally shop @ Vallejo Aquarium in Vallejo CA. the owner of the store is Dave. i'm not really sure where they order their corals from. How much do you think its gonna cost if they order it from you and sell it to me i'm pretty sure they're gonna have to make some money so i don't doubt that they'll bump up the price for their customers. i was hoping to get it from you straight up but if i have to go through my lfs to get some i guess that'll do thanks

James
