Care of African blue zoanthids...

I should mention that I've started to lose a few polyps. It looks like some sort of fungus is starting to grow on the base of the mat.

Inadvertently I moved my koralia a bit (about a week ago) which effected the flow my blue colony received. All was fine when it was in direct flow so I'm beginning to think that these need moderate to strong flow.

They were on the bottom of my 125 and popping new babies like mad even in relatively low light.

Just thought I'd give everyone an update. I'll probably try and give them a freshwater dip tomorrow and frag off the unaffected polyps.

Eric,
I have been following this thread and I think I would like to try some of these. I live in the NW Suburbs of Chicago. Do you ship to any of the store here?

My new ones seem to be doing OK. I had a small piece that receeded down to one head at my LFS. I took it and dipped in Lugols and it started to grow new heads. Now seems to be doing OK and has some new growth.

I keep it in high light and medium flow.

I'm not sure whats up with mine. I'll get like 4 or 5 new polyps, they'll grow to adults, then 1 will wilt away and die. Then i get 3 or 4 more and the cycle continues. At least i'm getting more new polyps than the ones that are dying off.

I have had mine for 6 weeks now and they are doing great.
Week One - Great
Week Two - Started Losing Polyps
Week Three- Continued to Loose Polyps - Did a dip in Furan 2 and Formalin.
Week Four to Current Day - Never lost a polyp after the dip. They are always open and looking good. In Medium Light and Moderate Flow

Here is a current picture

If it wasn't for this thread I would not of know to dip. So thank you all for that.

Yah Revive is a great dip. It goes a lot farther than the TMPCC for me at least. 4 capfuls per gal. Its cheaper too. Petsolutions has free shipping right now but i think there is a minimum. So pickup some salt too!! ;)

I use Revive now, used to use TMPCC/Lugols

I've found a couple different Revive products. Which one?

http://revivecoralcleaner.com/ This is why I wanted to try it....

ReVive can be used to treat Acropora Eating Flatworms, Little Red Bugs, Montipora and Zoanthid Eating Nudibranchs, Planaria Flatworms, Sundial Snails and many other parasitic pests. Please note that ReVive will not kill the eggs of many of these species and multiple treatments may be required. For best use, quarantined your corals and examine them daily for signs of infestation. Repeat treatment as necessary.

I have had some African blue's for about 2-3 months now. I started out with 6 polyps and they didn't do much growth the first month. After a few months I am up to 11 polyps and it looks like the growth on them is really starting to take off. Hopefully they keep growing well and dont fall prey to the problems plaguing other reefers.

Ill just wait till they are on the 2.99 frag rack at my lfs. , they just seem like too much trouble for my liking
