Carpet ID

For now, this is the only pic I have. The verrucae have me a little puzzled. FWIW, it was stuck to a rock, maybe 4-5" across, no prominent mouth, and was hosting an akallopisos. I will get another shot of the full oral disk tomorrow. This is a picture of it out of the water so I could get a look at the underside of the oral disk. TIA.

A few more pics, hosting a Premnas clown now.....trying to see if what will host in it will give any additional clues. So far skunk, maroon, and percula complex clowns have all hosted this thing. Hosting being far from scientific, but an atlantic I am not thinking would have so readily hosted these species with no fatalities.

Maroon hosting

How much does it look like this carpet?

More thoughts, please ;)

If this is the one at Uncle Bill's in Fishers it definitely an Atlantic S. helianthus. Stop by my place if you want to see a S. mertensii;)

Look at the posture, absolutely a helianthus... I saw a clarki being hosted by a helianthus at petco... Clowns will host mag cleaners and anything they can.

Definitely helianthus. Only a matter of time before it eats your clown. Since this is an Atlantic species, they aren't exposed to clowns, so they will never serve as a host and have a symbiotic relationship. It will very much be a one way relationship. You have been warned. ;-)

This won't give you any clues. Clowns will try to have a host that's anything from xenia to an overflow.

This is like flies being attracted to a venus fly trap. You're just waiting for the mouth to close.
