Conor, your tank is looking simply fantastic!
Amazing mature growth, beautiful diversity of form and just plain pretty colour!!
What's missing?????
Not much, I don't think.

Close to perfection
Thanks man, that's a big compliment. It still has a long way to go. Lots of small colonies in there.
Can't get a decent bloody shot eh Conor..................

That FTS pic is just jaw droppingly stunning mate, like i don't really know what to say tbh.......... i would giggle to myself whilst standing in front of your display if it was mine Conor....
Thanks bud! You know I feel the same about your tank. Yeah, all my previous pics were from my iPhone. The GoPro does a much better job. I'm excited to take more now.
Really nice. The corals are getting big.
Thanks! I don't really notice it until I look at pictures from a year ago.
Beautiful FTS Conor!!!
Your tank has blossomed into a mature beautiful colorful reef, great job!!!
Thanks so much!
Spectacular tank my friend. Keep up the good work; this tank is heading for TOTM. Just needs some of the smaller colonies to catch up with the growth and it'd get TOTM for sure.
Wow, thanks sahin. That means a lot coming from you. As I've said though, it still has quite a ways to go. If I can get colors like you are getting in all my corals, I'll be content.
Thats a sweet picture. Well done!
Thanks bud!
Your tank just appeared on my Facebook feed.
Weird, that happened to me too the other day. haha
Sweet damn!! The tank looks stunning mate!
Thank you!
Yep, tank looks great cFloor. Excellent photo!
Much appreciated, thanks!

That's very nice, thank you. As a reefer though, when looking at my tank I seem to always think something is missing. :crazy1:

My main problems with the tank:

I've been very upset the past week or so about my fish. Every fish I've put into my past three tanks have gone through 4-6 weeks of QT and pro actively treated with cupramine and prazi pro. Every fish. I haven't had any sign of fish disease in my past three tanks until recently. After putting my achilles/goldrim into my display from QT, I noticed some spots on him. My heart sank. I treated him as I do all my other fish, so I'm not sure where my mistake was. I lost that fish this morning and now some others have some spots. Such a bummer! I haven't yet decided what, if anything, I am going to do at this point.

Problem #2: Bubble algae! This doesn't bother me too much but it's there and I'd like it gone somehow. My emerald crabs don't touch it and because of the corals, I can't reach a lot of it to siphon it.

That last FTS was awesome, really awesome.

I have ich in my display ... heavy feeding got rid of any visible signs but if I add a new fish there's a 50/50 chance they will get it. The last few didn't show any issues but I suspect it's still there. Feed heavily and most fish seem t be able to fight it off.

Foxface for bubble algae. Mine is in hog heaven right now because I uncovered a lot of it. I even 'rescued' some when removing rocks and dropped it in the tank for food. Maybe I just got really lucky but my big one spot can't get enough of it.

thats what i love about SPS tanks they are ever evolving and then you can prune to maintain the look/balance in your tank. I really like having some large and some small colonies so it doesnt look over crowded. Your fish stocking is also on point for my taste which takes to next level.

One spot foxface handles my bubble algae and, well, any algae problem, really. Most useful fish I've ever owned.

Has loads of personality too. First fish to greet me anytime I come near the tank. In fact, sometimes I wish it was a little LESS friendly. Those spines are sharp!!

Sorry about the fish Conor, i love your fish collection more than any others on here buddy :(

I think feeding the fish as much as you can manage for a while will help, that's what i do and i take a small hit with acro colors due to the raised nutrients. I hope everything settles down with the fish mate.

The tank looks phenomenal. The big tort really sets this tank apart, and the growth on all your other prices is impressive as well. I wouldn't worry too much about a few dots showing up on your fish. IMO their natural antibodies will fight off sickness if they are otherwise healthy in general. My fish get ick from time to time, but they always fight it off.

What do you feed the Regal? I just picked up a juvi and it only eats mysis at the moment. Stunning reef BTW :celeb1:

Exact same experience. The only fish that wants to be hand fed is the one with the poison spines. :lolspin:

As far as the ich I would feed heavy with garlic supplements and a HIGH quality vitamin mix. Give it a shot and see if it perks up the immune system of the fish.

Conor that pic blew me away:inlove:
Such an amazing tank in so many ways!

So sorry about the hybrid buddy:(:(
It was an amazing fish. The most important thing for the tank is you buddy,if you are healthy and strong, you can always try ono or two or three or 1000 times to get one more hybrid.
Really hope the other fish will quickly get rid of the spots.
Like all the fellas said, high quality food enriched with some vitamins is a nice way to go until you see if the situation takes a turn to the worst.Really hope it won't get there:beer:

sucks with the fish, i did the same in my previous tank 8-12 week QT and treatment and lost everything, not sure why and how it happened.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Today the tank has been up and running for 1 year. I put the corals in on Feb 4th but I believe the return pump was first plugged in on the 2nd.

I thought it'd be a good time to show where my corals were in my past tank, where this tank started, and where it's at today.

This was towards the end of my last tank, which was running for about 2.5 years. It was set up due to the many mistakes made on my previous tank and taken down because I bought too many corals and wanted a better home for my regal angel.

This is the first FTS I took of my current tank, which I posted on the first page of this thread

This is where we are at today. Other than a big nutrient spike from not having a skimmer for almost 3 weeks with continued heavy feeding, everything is coming along. When I set the tank up, I told myself I wouldn't move or change anything. That didn't happen. I've moved, removed, and added several corals. I've experimented with products such as acropower, fauna marin color elements, and sponge power. As of today, acropower is all that I put into the tank other than esv 2 part, and weekly 10% water changes. I also have a bag of carbon in the sump and just a couple weeks back added about 2 gallons of matrix.

I tried a couple underwater shots. Colors are not accurate but after taking 90 pics, i wanted to share the two that weren't completely blurry.

And a night shot

Thank you, Yea I feel that I feed a lot of healthy foods heavily. So far I haven't lost any fish but the symptoms are present. I considered adding a fox face for the bubble algae but if I do, I will wait until my fish are healthy again.

Thank you Ryan! I do believe we have very similar taste in both fish and corals. The evolution of our tanks is what keeps me so excited about this hobby. I was really happy to see that your tank is doing well!

Thanks for the suggestion. I had one a couple tanks ago and it was such a cool fish. If my fish get back to optimal health, I think I will consider adding one.

Thanks so much Andrew. I was and still am really bummed about it. Not knowing why my QT procedure on my hybrid tang didn't work is driving me crazy. I hope they all can fight it off.

Thank you! I put the tort in the middle because I knew it was a fast grower and I loved the look of DogBoyDave's TOTM with the huge stag in the middle. That always made a big impression on me. I'm really hoping all my fish can fight this off as well.
What do you feed the Regal? I just picked up a juvi and it only eats mysis at the moment. Stunning reef BTW :celeb1:
My regal eats a wide variety of foods. Live black worms, live brine shrimp, PE mysis, homemade blend of shellfish, nori, ocean nutrition angel formula, and fish ROE. I'm probably forgetting some. Thank you!

Exact same experience. The only fish that wants to be hand fed is the one with the poison spines. :lolspin:
Haha, in our hobby that probably makes sense.
As far as the ich I would feed heavy with garlic supplements and a HIGH quality vitamin mix. Give it a shot and see if it perks up the immune system of the fish.
Thanks! That is exactly what I'm doing. I think they'll be fine. It's just frustrating.

Thanks so much. It's been fun playing round with the GoPro. I like it better than my phone pics. It's definitely a bummer about the hybrid. He was one of the coolest fish I've owned. He was doing o.k. and then went downhill fast. I'm not sure if I'll add anymore fish to this tank now. We shall see.
sucks with the fish, i did the same in my previous tank 8-12 week QT and treatment and lost everything, not sure why and how it happened.
It's crazy how that happened. I remember reading about your experience. All my fish go through QT and get treated with cupramine and prazi pro. It's worked on at least 30+ fish over the years and then the hybrid somehow brought ich to my tank.

Conor, your tank is so good. It's as near to perfect as it gets.
I've said it before..... Colour, form, balance...
Superb..
In about 6 months, this tank will be totm worthy..
The only reason it isn't right now is because you had the for though and good sense to leave plenty of space between your corals...
Even though they are mostly huge and well grown out, the tank doesn't quite have that 'fully grown in' look yet..
I applaud your skills, man!
Can you do a wide shot with the door frames and wall sconces in it, like you did for your old tank?
That shot is really good...

I also have a 190 DSA that I had just started putting some fish into. I could only hope it looks 1/10 of how good yours looks! Such big and beautiful colonies and amazing fish!
