Wow I'm sorry for your losses, that doesn't sound like ich to me but I guess it's entirely possible you got a strain your fish were unable to fight off. Regardless of what it was, that really sucks, you have/had a beautiful fish collection.

Thanks, losing fish has always been the toughest part of being in this hobby. I didn't lose anything for a few years and then this happened. My fish get fed healthy foods often and were still not able to fight off whatever got into the tank.

So, some sad news about my fish. I mentioned that when I added my hybrid tang to the tank (after QT) it introduced what I thought to be ich. In the following weeks, I was losing a fish or two a day and I'm not sure what it actually was but appeared to be much more aggressive than ich. I lost a lot of fish very quickly. I would have torn the tank down to capture the fish and treat them but I was working 7 days a week and didn't have the help I needed to do that. I'm really upset to say the least. I have some fish in QT at the moment but I'm very nervous to add them. My surviving fish now look healthy but every fish was affected a couple weeks ago.

I also added about 12 frags to the tank that I've had in my frag tank. I found space by adding pieces of tonga branch throughout the tank to prop them up. Right now, it doesn't look good, kinda cluttered. I think in time it will look really nice as they begin to grow.
No Conor :( Just no :thumbdown you had one of the best and most awesome looking fish lists there was!! I'm so saddened to hear this mate. Truly.I hope everyone else pulls through with flying colours though :)

New frags do help though lol

Sorry for the fish loss, that's got to be tough. I'm not a big fish person yet the longer I keep mine the more attached I get.

man, Conor, that sucks!
I have had a couple of partial tank wipeouts from adding a new fish.. sucks!
Sorry to hear...
You may have to drown your sorrows in photography.. like, new frag photography. :)
Have you noticed any difference in nutrient levels since your fish looses?

I appreciate the thoughts everyone.

I think the worst is behind me as far as my fish goes. I lost my G. caudovittatus pair which really sucks! However, after losing the male, my dominant female G. semifasciatus has started transitioning to a male which I'm very happy about. It's also really cool to witness.

Anyway, the tank has been a mess. A pump on my doser went out and it took me two days or so to realize it, so my alk plummeted. A ballast on my new ATI light also went out so things have been off to say the least.

reeefmut- I haven't noticed too much of a difference in my nutrient levels because I've upped my feeding even more in hopes of getting my fish healthy. I'll have to get some pics or video up of the tank with the new corals. All the tonga branch is still white, so it's quite an eye sore at the moment. I need to get things back on track.

Wow sounds like you've had a sh!t run of luck mate :( I really hope everything is turning around though as your tank was such a huge inspiration to me!! I've got my fingers and toes crossed that everything makes tremendous recovery! :)

Thanks bud, yea the tank has gone through a lot of change and a bit of a rough spot lately but I'm sure it'll all work itself out in the upcoming months.

Bubble Algae update:
I put my Desjardini tang back into my display and he has nearly wiped the bubble algae out. It was literally covering every inch of exposed rock and he's done an amazing job on it in only 10 days. Even my fiancé is happy about this, as she said it looked like gross warts all over my tank, lol.

Upcoming Purchases?
I am considering buying a Neptune DOS. I've heard good things about it and my bubble magus is now few years old.

When I get my ATI fixed, I think I'm going to add a 60" reefbrite XHO. I've noticed a lot of my favorite tanks use these and I saw a video on youtube that really made me want one.

Wow I wish my tang was big enough for one, maybe I will purchase a baby sailfin for temporary and see if he helps. I've got a mad bubble algae break out. Bought a small foxface to hopefully help as well. Just yesterday I couldn't take it no more, broke out some tweezers and airline tubing. Pulled a ton out with the siphon next to it.

Sorry to hear about your problems man! When it rains it pours, thats forsure. It will get better though!

Out of the corals that lost all of their color, this was the first one to start looking better. It went from a light brown to this in a couple weeks. Hopeful it continues coloring up.

And this coral is the toughest piece I've owned. It holds it's color and PE no matter what I put it through.

What's the name of the "indestructible" piece? I'm having a hard time IDing the one I have in my tank

I hate to even ask, but what was the total fish loss? Just the pair you mentioned above? I was under the impression it was a big hit- did your Regal survive?

Hopefully your new foxface will help. I hear they are one of the better fish for bubble algae. I tried some emerald crabs but I they definitely couldn't keep up.

Matt, I think I lost 11 fish. I had two regals, one was in a connected tank in my fish room. I lost that one. The one in my main tank survived.

Man that sucks big time. I lost my fairy wrasse recently as she jumped out whilst the tank cover was off...losing 11 fishes...sorry buddy.

That's a montipora setosa.

Thanks guys. It's been a very tough couple months with the tank. I've had all kinds of problems, some my fault and some due to equipment failure. Losing fish for me, is the hardest part of this hobby. I think now, I'll place more attention on my corals and less on rebuilding my fish population.

I am loving my desjardini tang. I originally had him in my display but moved him to a larger tank. When my bubble algae problem got completely out of control I moved him back. I literally had bubble algae covering every inch of exposed rock and he wiped it out in under two weeks. So stoked!

In this pic you can see some of my new frags propped up on tonga branch throughout the tank.

Wow, that is a stunning fish, and the fact that he eats bubble algae makes him worth his weight in gold!!! Beautiful picture as well, I love seeing the gardening each of us does in the tanks to find new homes for pretty sticks!

whooo mighty fine mighty fine!
