Cheektowaga reef store robbed?

I don't know the specific insurance situation but I'll bet it's a big hassle and doubt it would be profitable and would likely increase premiums at a minimum.

The bottom line is Randy's personal collection and space has been violated by those with no respect for others. It sucks. Makes it hard to keep the doors open to visitors for trades, reef crawls etc. for the rest of us too.

I guess its possible the one with the belly might be female but I dunno. Looks.like the under shirt is a button down dress type shirt. Not saying girls don't wear those but I think its more likely to be a male.

The suspects are in fact two white males who appear to be in their early/mid 20's. To those making comments about insurance coverage- of course it's crucial during times like this, but it doesn't take away from the fact that some corals are irreplaceable. You can't put a price tag on a coral that was kept for many years that you'll likely never find again, which is the case with a lot of the livestock that was stolen. Let's just hope that the criminals are brought to justice. On behalf of my good friends at ARC, thanks for all the support. It's really great to see the reefing community pull together to help them during this difficult time.

I have been watching the video over and over. I certainly have seen the guy in the picture on the left a few times back in my days at Markheim. Hopefully, a name or something comes to me.

That's the crime of it. This hobby has become so much about aquaculture. We lose some rareties, the whole community loses. A couple of smash and grab a-holes ruin things for everybody.

Way the world is headed. Me me me. I'm guessing the morons responsible for this masterminded caper are too stupid to grasp the gravity of their actions.

Was at ABC tonight. Everyone there is on the look out. Got your back Randy. Hope it works out and you lose nothing more than a window in the end.

Well maybe the few of us that think one might have been female will get that guy ****ed enough to come forward just to prove he's not.

I talked to Randy at his store tonight He told me the rochester craigslist piece posted was not his.Sad to see his tanks with so many pieces missing .

This is such a shame I saw the video on tv and couldnt believe it so sry randy hope that they not only catch them but find all the priceless corals they took still living and you get them all back, we are all most definately on the lookout. hoping for the best ill be in soon to see you .

Bad things happen to good people. Being a Police Officer I see it all the time. I am thankful it is "just coral" and was not a day time robbery where someone could get hurt. I don't mean any disrespect to coral but I'm am glad no one is hurt and this is not a story that ended in tragedy. I am confident in the Cheektowaga Police and the video that Randy put in place.
Form a Police Officers point of view....they really are not that smart. They made many mistakes and should be caught soon....after that, it is up to the court system...good luck with that...Justice is rarely the end result.

God Bless Randy...bummed for this season you are going through.

I really hope hes compensated but honestly all those rare corals hes spent years accumulating. :-/ Such a shame. I was saving up for one of those crazy rainbow acans ugh i dont know where else ill ever find one that cool looking. Hang in there randy!

Just bumping this up. Please just use this thread everyone as discussion. No finger pointing, blaming. This is a criminal investigation and it is being taken very seriously. All information should be sent to the right authorities.

From a friend in your neighboring state (Connecticut Area Reef Society CTARS) I am deeply sorry for your loss and wish you a swift resolution to this problem. I am a 22-year-old hobbyist with a babyface but I take it seriously. It kills me that most people don't take me for serious because I am young and not as 'experienced' as others, though I invest much of my spare time into this one hobby. People my age who will burglarize a LFS that they clearly know, visit, and shop from is disgusting and makes me ashamed of my peers in my age group.

Best of luck.

Yeah I was entertained by how quickly everyone became a suspect. Like the usual suspects. Look for the guy with the limp.

I was waiting for someone to show up at my house to check my tank for illegals.
