Quick question for people who ordered from Evergrow. Did you guys get extra LEDs with the order? I asked them prior to the order and they said yes, but I didn't get the LEDs in the package. Just wondering. I am currently working with Sunny on this.

The LED fixture that I am looking at is the 36" long with 36X3W bulbs with 90degree optics.

I'm just not sure how to choose my bulbs to get the correct/best light spectrum.

Its for a reef tank with all sorts of LPS, schrooms, soft, zoas... except SPS.

It is being offered with 3W Bridgelux LED's

They are suggesting the following:
18pcs - 14K White
10pcs - 460nm Blue
6pcs - 453nm Blue
2pcs- 427nm Purple

Should replace any of the current selection?
Should I remove some 14K and some 10K or even some 18K?
Any inputs are greatly appreciated.

I guess I'll be the guinea pig for these light fixtures.
They also have a 36" long with 64x3W bulbs but cost twice as much and I think it will be too much light for a 46g bowfront.

Please let me know. Thanks!

Do you think you can send me the link through pm for one of these?
Thanks

Who does DHL forward there deliveries to? My lights arrived at New Orleans international via dhl Friday morning. The dhl tracking says the item has been forwarded for delivery. Do they use fed ex or ups or USPS? Or it just depends. Kinda sucks they shipped from Hong Kong on wensday and made it to Kenner, Louisiana by 10am Friday morning and now they with a forwarder who doesn't deliver on the weekend if they use one mentioned above! Any knowledge on this?

Info req on D120 led units...

Info req on D120 led units...

Hi everyone,

Still not sure wether to pull the trigger on either 1 x 1T2080 or 2 x D120's.

Does the IT2080 able to have 120 degree optics (I can only mount it around 4-5 inches from the water surface) so I think that 90 degree lenses might lead to spotting.

I take it if I got the D120's with 90 degree optics, I can remove them as required to get 120 degrees?

Also, Is there any real benefit to having the moonlighting and sunrise functions, other than the wow factor? I'm happy to have a few extra cables and use timers.

Many thanks. Great thread my the way, lots of info!!

getting ready to pull the trigger on the reefbreeders 120 watt Bridgelux Value LED Fixture. I have a 34 gallon that is 30" long, 18" wide, and roughly 14" deep from waterline to top of the substrate.
If I order this unit, I believe I do not need optics for my tank size, is this correct? For planning purposes, how height above the tank should I target?

Any reason to not get this unit?

bump....

From EG the IT series (all 3 of them) come with 90 degree lenses that are easy to remove (twist off and on). The D120 is standard without lenses (120 degree bare bulbs) and lenses cost about $10 extra. I just put in a group buy for 14ea D120's, 3ea IT2040's and 7ea IT2080's. So far Helen at EG has been a big help and very cooperative. She said they will have final invoice for me along with shipping cost (UPS), best estimate of manufacturering time and delivery time and the bank account where I need to wire money. We are all holding our breath hoping this works smoothly as the ordering process has been.

So are the leds on the IT2080 120 degree if you twist the lenses off??

(I hope so are I would have to get D120'S but the IT2080 seems a lot better option!)

You know, I havnt seen one tank picture posted of these lights growing SPS, :(
Lets get some pictures :D !!

My new tank is only a month old. I can use this orange digitata as the first pic, and document growth. My acro mille died during the transfer from my cube to the new tank, as it really wasn't ready to support sps.

Yes. And I've been told they are easy to twist off and twist on. Two of use in the group buy ordered some extra 60 degree lenses just so we could play with them. They cost us $0.15 each!

Lighting for BTA or Carpet Anemone

I know a lot of you guys are getting custom color configurations and I was looking at getting a D120. Would you recommend getting a custom layout for an anemone tank? I know a lot of you guys add UV, violet, 420nm, red, green, etc.. but thats mostly for SPS right? Thanks for any help

Your anemones use the same kind of zooanthellia that corals do. That means they will benefit from improved color for better zooanthellia growth. Blues, whites and reds are the most important for the algae and other colors are more for show and getting the 'look' you want.

I got the same basic color in the 2ea IT2080's for my 180g mixed reef DT, 1ea IT2040 for my anemone DT and 2ea D120's for my QT & frag tank. Now I'll have an EcoTech Radion to sell.

That makes sense, thanks for that. Now to pull the trigger and hope I get a 20K look lol

For a 20K look at 100% on both channels, you'll want about a 2:1 ratio of blue to white. If it's too blue you can dim the blue channel, if it's not blue enough you can dim the white channel. My old D120 is a 3:2 ratio and it's about a 14K look. And I think that's too blue, but it's an old fixture and doesn't have dimmers! So I'm getting the IT2040 for it.

Thanks Ron, it's just that I thought I read earlier on that the IT series were standard 90 degree leds only.... Or was that just the optics...?
