Chinese LED Lights

Barry, are you using the value or controllable? How many?

I'm sure this was already mentioned but I missed it (or forgot), what is the difference between the evergrow, reef breeder, etc units?
Where would you recommend buying?

Hello everyone. I have the 16" 120w controllable fixture from Reef Breeders and I must say that I am very happy with the quality and design of the fixture. I need some help on determining what power levels I should run the channels for my tank. It's over a Nuvo 16 which is major overkill and I plan on keeping mainly SPS. The light is 9.5" off the water.

reefbreeder and evergrow are the same units. Reefbreeders just gives you a 2 year US warranty.

These are my JT2080 over my 125 gallon tank with two center braces and no shadowing. These looks are the best

Your tank setup looks a lot like mine, conduit and all. How are you liking it so far?

It is conduit pipe and I think it's exactly like yours which that's where I got the idea from so thanks a bunch BHAZARD:thumbsup:

I love these lights it's only been up and running since Friday and have no problems so far. I have them about 8 inches off the water and the highest I got for my Channels are in mid day so ch1:40% and ch2:50% for an hour then they ramp back down every hour so my corals don't bleach since I recall you saying 2 corals bleached do too ramping the lights to high. Beside that am waiting for my spare leds to come in because am doing some switching.

What is the JT mean in a JT2080. I know EG and RB but not JT?

Really Reefman. Not only is he a Reefman but his also a spelling teacher haha..I misspelled it now you no what I was trying to spell. You know keyboards on phones are small so I may do a human error from time to time.....

I seriously didn't/don't know. There are at least half a dozen factories in China either selling fixtures that are the same or very close to the EG fixtures. Even RB is now rebrading the Evergrow lights as Photons? My assumption was that you were talking about some new player.

I did look at my keyboard and didn't see that JT was close to either EG or RB... I admit I didn't look at my phone, but then my phone keyboard is the same layout as my laptop keyboard. There was no offence intended, I just wanted to know for sure. :spin3:

First of all, this is great thread. I read almost all but now Im little confused. I have a tank 2 months old i start it because of crashing my old first reef system. Dimensions is 130x50x65cm depth. I really like this everGrow lights but dont sure which i should use. Tank will be mainly SPS dominated with LPS, clams some soft. I now use my custom canopy with 4x glu T5 2x39w. Bulb is short but i have it, I use it. What do you thing i may use? 2x IT2040 or 3x IT2040 rotated 90 degrees or 4x IT2040 in grid or 2x IT2060? What do you thing? Of course price is important :-) but my stony babies more :-) Another thing is that I'll propably order lights directly from everGrow because Im from europe. But I can find only white and blue pattern. It is possible order full spectrum lights and what pattern you like and which works? Another little question, if I understand it I can connect couple of lights together, one is programed master and another lights are slaves? Or I must program all lights separately and connection is only for power. Thanks a lot and sorry for my questions but I want to do it right.

Glad to help. I was surprised when I went looking for some helpful image that all the Kelvin color charts stop at 8000K or 10,000K and don't get into the 14K and 20K we always talk about in MH bulb colors. Anybody ever find a good color chart that goes to 20K?

Its really difficult to capture the 'true' colors given off by a bright light but after adjusting the white balance, using a flash and a white background, I think this photo gives a fairly accurate representation of 10K (bright white, natural look), 14K (still bright white but with a slight blue tint and starts to make colors pop) and 20K (bright overall blue color, makes colors pop, maybe not quite as dim looking as this picture).

I was impressed with par from the it2080. Through air at 29" height the center of the fixture I was getting 450 par. At the edges under the leds I was getting 330.

Wow! Kinda surprised no one commented about the par values. This is better par than a diy competitor with Cree leds, but theirs is in a 18" fixture.
