Considering first carpet

i have a 180g dt, 3x250w mh lights, good water flow and very clean water, clean enough to grow sps in my connected frag tank. I have been successfully keeping a BTA for the last 2 years and now want to add haddons carpet. Is there anything i should consider that anyone has learned from their experience. I am well aware that fish swimming nearby can become dinner. Is there any way to increase my chances of success. I would hate to buy a nice specimen and waste its life because i was ignorant about how to care for it properly.

Sounds like you have a good setup for it.

I would clear a good amount of space for it near the bottom. I would keep it away from any powerheads and any inlets so that it doesn't get sucked up. My experience is they are not particularly prone to wandering but I would keep an eye out in case. Keep in mind these anemones get enormous.

Finding a good healthy specimen would be number one. If you want to increase your odds of success I would try to find one that has been in captivity for 1 month plus, and avoid newly shipped ones. I purchased a newly shipped purple haddoni only to have it start to waste away after the two week mark. Not fun for me nor my pocket book. I currently have a blue one that is doing really well, has been at the store for 2 plus months before being purchased, and recently purchased a large green one from another hobbyiest.

They like a deep sandbed also, and low to medium flow.

i appreciate the replies, sorry it took so long to post this but I lost track of this post...brainfart
