Cully's 120 build

Using Radions in manual mode. Rehabbing an old laptop so I can get everything going in Ecosmart live. WXM is on the way.

Using this "cycle in a bottle" denitrifying bacterial culture to basically instantaneously seed my reincarnated previously dry, dead, rock.

Worked just fine at The Rosamond Gifford Zoo, in their giant octopus display. That's a $10000 animal, and it was thriving in that tank 48 hours after using the same product.

Did you just use this stuff by itself? it would scare me to go the quick route but "may" consider it. If thats all you used, how is it going and did you run all the tests threw out the cycle?
Oh, and where did you get it?

I bought it at ABC. I was starting with dry rock and wanted to colonize it pest free. Bit of a fools paradise, just wanted as best I could, to avoid the likes of halmeda, and other macro algae, aiptaisia, mojanos etc. I figured I pick up other algae along the way from frags and other colonies I add to the tank.

As for the bacteria in a bottle, it is supposed to be rather instantaneous cycling. No way did I trust it. I tested on a weekly basis and actually added another 50% dose of bacteria. Took about 4 weeks to be confident everything was in the appropriate population. Last test was adding some ammonia and tested a few days later to be sure it's been metabolized.

I certainly wouldn't add it & add fish the next day.

That was awesome... wow. I am still living in the dark ages hahahah. I have the old Hamilton 2x175mh and double vho.I really need to get with the millennium.
if you need a chunk of the tTodd's let me know!

Patience is agonizing. Transferring stuff to LEDs is a slow process IME. Not taking any chances, but making for an ugly reef so far. Just got a bunch of frags from John Coppolino aka Copps. Taking it slow. Letting those beauties assimilate slowly!

I'm at 30%. Some of these corals are, shall we say, testy. Hoeksemai, lokani, Red Dragon. Taking my time with them.

Nice looking frags you got there :)

Definitely take your time acclimating them. They will be happy and growing in no time once settled in

Can't say as I blame ya there. How many threads how we read of people frying them with these lights. But for what it's worth My Red Dragon is about 18" from mine at 80% and loving it. Got it from a guy who had it under MH so I just put it where I wanted it and its doing fine. Been doing pretty much the same with all my SPS frags and no causalities yet. Looks great btw!!

Good to know Ernie. I posted a thread about acclimating SPS when changing lighting modalities. Got no responses. That's the stuff I needed to hear. I'll probably never surpass the 60-70% mark. I would think there's no need with Pros 9.5" off the water. I think water quality is key right now. My Skimz skimmer is RIPPING the nastiest stuff I've smelled in 10 years in this hobby, out of the tank. Great skimmer.

The message to all is, "PATIENCE".

Sorry dude I missed that one But I've been away 2-3 times in the last 5-6 weeks for work. Yeah my lights are still high Like 16.5" So anything in my tank is minimum of about 18-20" away. But even at that distance It took me 6 months to get them ramped up this high.
Gonna have to check that skimmer out one of these days.

Cully I just got s shipment from copps 2 weeks ago. His frags are huge and I cant wait to see what else he is gonna have 4 sale. I let mine sit a week b4 I placed them where I wanted them. Good luck with yours.

Meet Tanaka-San

Meet Tanaka-San

I'd show you the real one, but I haven't seen him since I put him in. Beautiful little fish. Shy guy though. Tanakas Possum Wrasse.

Ahh. Now I saw the carbon doser post!
All is looking very good, my friend.

Incidentally, I believe Wetmorella species are extremely disease resistant.
Better choice than a 6- line ;)

Have you notice a major difference with the carbon doser ive been in debate about getting one myself. Also good call on taking it slow with the Hoeksemai I got mine from copps and fried mine putting it even half way up in my tank.
