*d2mini's new 200g Reeftastic Build*

U have a beautiful tank. Love the fish room. I've stopped by frequently but don't remember if u said the reason why but what's is the reason u decided to not go with a cube again after the move. I would have loved to see a bigger cube that u could see three sides. With that being said I just set up a 93 cube about 3 months ago and already got the go ahead to upgrade once I pay my credit cards off. I think I will go with a custom 48×36×20 or 48x36x24. Once again beautiful setup.
Thanks. :)
I would have kept the old cube but there was no where in the new house where the cube would have worked well and I really wanted a fish room this time, which meant putting a tank up against a wall. I don't like cubes as much when they are against a wall. Instead of buying a tank and looking for a place to fit it, I look at the space and design a tank to fit the space. So when I found a house that I knew would work for a tank with fish room, I did just that.

My dream setup would be a 6'x6' cube in the center of large room with a fish room directly below in a basement. But we don't have basements here so I don't see that happening anytime soon. ;)

Loving the new setup, Dennis. Especially the new overflow.
Thanks, Brandon!

One of my favorite tanks I've seen in person was the cube with center overflow that was at the old location at fishga***ry in Houston . Did u see it when they had it?. As much as I love cubes , when I go bigger in about a year I will have to go with a rectangular shaped tank to look good in my living room. The one thing I regret about my new custom built home is that I didn't design a fish room. I'm jealous of yours.:headwally::headwally:

Is that your retired tank on the Ecotech website? Did they come out to your house for a photo shoot?
Yes, that was my cube and I shot the pics.

Ya, that was a nice tank!

Almost done with the frag rack!
But I ran out of egg crate.
Up close, it ain't pretty, but it's functional and that's all that really matters since it's soon going to be covered in coralline. ;)
I wanted to block as little flow as possible through the frame.

1/2" Acrylic Rod

You literally just quoted my dream tank setup word for word! Luckily I do live in a part of the country that has basements :)

Center column overflow, starfire all the way around... Someday!

Don

Here's a couple shots of the overflow.
Toothless the entire span for ultimate surface skimming.
It has a 3-section removable cover.
The covers prevent fish and snails from entering by having a top plate and also a rail underneath it that won't let much more than water past the front lip.
First pic shows the overflow during normal operation.
Second pic shows the right most cover removed and sitting on top of the eurobrace.
Overall, the overflow is about the same width as the eurobrace.

I really do like that view of the overflow.

Happy new year btw.

Keep on giving us stuff to drool over. LOL

Ouch!! Do you run them 24/7 or do you alternate with one sometimes stopped?

24/7...my guess is this....these guys are only on the acrylic when my lights are out and the lights come on they usually release and fall to the bottom. So they must have been near the gyre and when the lights came on they released from the panel and got sucked right in.

have you put your hand on the bottom of the gyre? you can't feel any suction.

it happened on the top and the bottom. Theres definitely no suction but they are light enough where they can get pulled in from the current being created.
