IMO, The grinch is not as nice. I had to remove my wildfire when I was having problems early last summer, the piece started receeding and the jocs tried to help it along. I guess I had it in a bad spot. It has since recovered nicely in the shallow system.

Feeling better about the recovery. This guy was almost completely gone, just a few polyps and very little green, now he's looking much better.
Nice piece Dan! That's nice and BRIGHT!!!
I don't even know the difference
The wildfire is a brighter "lime" green and the grinch has a darker base with more reddish orange polyps. The wildfire is nicer

So I had two pretty cool sightings in the thank last night after the lights went out. First the clown eggs hatched and there was a ton of fry swarming in the tank. Unfortunately (and as expected) none to be seen this morning. Secondly I spotted this guy last night, I still have at least one left :dance:
Yay for berghias!! lol! I love these little creatures! Have you spotted yours again Dan or have you seen any more? Did you notice your aiptasia gone? I had 2 left but unfortunately one died this morning for some weird reason :sad1: It did lay quite a few eggs at least. Anyways if you only have one and you can catch it,we can put him with my other one so they can make babies

Thanks Dave. Yup this piece absolutely GLOWS. The first time I saw it was in Kenny's tank and it stood out like a beacon. :inlove: So when I had a chance to get it from Richard (wishntoboutside) I grabbed it. I'm sure you guys noticed but have you seen some of the crazy fish Richard's been getting in lately? :bum:

Hey Kat. Yeah, they're pretty cool looking. I originally put six in and I've only spotted an individual twice since (I hope it was a different one). I was surprised to see how big it had gotten, maybe 3/4 inch. I did notice that the aptasia had decreased up high but I still have some here and there. If I catch it, I'll let you know. Decided to send a sample to AWT for testing and this is what I got back:
Ammonia (NH3-4) Good 0.005
Nitrite (NO2) Good 0.021
Nitrate (NO3) Good 1.0
Phosphate (PO4) Good 0.01
Silica (SiO2-3) Good 0.3
Potassium (K) Low 218
Calcium (Ca) Low 329
Boron (B) Low 2.5
Molybdenum (Mo) High 0.2
Strontium (Sr) Good 9.1
Magnesium (Mg) Good 1250
Iodine (I¯) Good 0.03
Copper (Cu++) High 0.04
Alkalinity (meq/L) Good 2.54
For reference sake, this is what I tested just before sending to AWT:
Ca 450 (Salifert)
Alk 9 or 3.21 meq/L (API)
MG 1400 (Elos)
PO4 0.04 (Hanna)
NO3 1.0 (Elos)
Pretty happy with the results except for the copper reading. I’ve never had any copper show up before and I’m using RODI with 0 TDS as make-up and salt mixing so I’m kinda puzzled. I guess I’ll run some CupriSorb to see if I can get the copper reading down. Also there was a big disparities between the Ca and Alk readings. You guys see anything else I should be concerned about?

Nice job Dan! A couple of things..
- Calcium ... wow 121ppm off! that's a lot. Now you know it's off, are you going to up the calcium so that your test kit reads 521?
- Strontium...Do you dose this? If not, what kind of salt are you using and how often/much you changing water?

Send them three samples of the same water and see what comes back.Besides that, good job :thumbsup:

Thanks Leo. I think I'm going to leave things just like they are as my eye tells me that the corals seem to be happy. I do not dose or test for Sr. I use TMP and have been changing 20-25% weekly (due to the issues) but I'm going back to 15% every other week (my "normal" schedule).

:lol: Yeah, based on the PO4 results that Kenny had and both of us testing w/our Hanna meters I have doubts on AWT's accruacy. Sending three samples of the same water would be an interesting but expensive experiment. I kinda look at it as being a directional indication of how things are doing. All that being said I'm concerned with the copper result though.Except there are reports that AWT is not really that accurate either

I agree with the directional thing and also that it will provide you a baseline to move forward. No matter what, the corals never lie.
AWT calcium result have always been off. They test calcium with ISE probe and then throw in a fudge factor to get their value. These values represent only the amount of free calcium ions present in the samples. They need to test with flame AA in order to total calcium concentration. There result with ISE probe will be 10-20 % off.
