DanW's 187 SPS Dominated Reef Journal

Dan, do you have any plating monti caps in your tank? From what I read they are the first corals to get affected from low potassium levels. My indicator in my tank of low potassium is my red monti cap. Many salt brands have low potassium amounts so its good to have an indicator coral to judge your levels. Just a few tricks I learned over on the zeo forum. Ive never experienced burnt tips from an overdose on potassium but ive read about it a lot. Hope that helps!

Damn Brian you know me too well.

One is doing very well the other hides amost all the time and looks a little sickly. BTW put another fish in QT also but the first day he slammed himself against the side of the tank and crushed his nose, hope he pulls through. Round 1 of Prazi this week.

Hello welcome to RC and thanks for stopping by. For most of my dry equipment I go to Socal Tropical Fish. Tom has top notch equipment at the best prices. For fish I mostly go to SCT, Amazing Reefs, Pacific Reef and Seaside. For corals I go to other hobbiest and to the "events". Coral Farmers Market is coming up in March and Reefapalooza is in October. Also keep and eye out for Hugo and Jose's backyard swap during the summer. Check out the LFS map here.
