Deeznutz Hd 120 Shallow rimless (Pics)

Pretty sure I see a slop sink right there. Electricity and water are the two big things for a good fish room, I think!

Are you going to have the RO/DI down there?

Very cool build.

Thank you GroktheCube

Yes, that is my fish sink. I've been using for a while now. A must have for sure. Might upgrade to a farm style sink lol. I also have lots of protected plugs(5) to play with:spin3:
Rodi is already running my ato for my frag tank

Anything else you would like to see in there?:lol2:

great progress!

Thanks TFT buddy.

Are you going to enclose the entire room with a door as well? The reason I ask is because there should be some type of ventilation for oxygen and humidity release. Also most importantly please don't forget the hard wired smoke alarm In that room just incase.

It's going to be amazing wish I lived closer to see it.

Michael

Thank you Michael for the compliments. The room will eventually be enclosed, but for now it will be wide open. I will be taking O2 and humidity into consideration when that happens.

Smoke alarm is a great idea. Thanks. Thinking about adding sprinkler system as well lol

TOTM in the making

I was looking for this thread for a few days to see what was new
I didnt realize on RC you have "1" at the end of your name!

Haha, it sounds like you have the bases well covered! Shelving is about the only other extra I could think to throw in, maybe a fridge/freezer for fish/coral food it you want to go real nuts! I've always kinda wanted to have a separate fridge and freezer for aquarium stuff, but never really had room for one.

TOTM, oh I wish. Thanks for the compliments, but my SPS keeping efforts are far from other TOTM contenders. Maybe on day :)

I had to use the 1 in my name because someone else here is snatched it up already :( I wonder if I can claim it as my own, if the name is no longer being used???

I'm glad you found the thread though.

I sure hope I have everything covered:worried: I had an extra mini fridge for the fish room when we were doing our kitchen reno, but my wife returnedshortly after we were done:headwally: It would have been the bees knees to have it. Never the less, I'll make room for one in the future :)

As for shelving, yes, lots and lots of shelving. Also, water proof table tops for the work benches.

I'll be hard wiring it for ethernet and cable. I have a spare computer and 47" flat screen that I can use to make it a Man cave-esk fish room.

I also have some pot lights hanging around. I'm not sure if I should hang pots on a dimmer or just a standard 2 bulb shop light? I am planning on doing a drop ceiling only because I want access to stuff in the future.

As for the floor, I'm thinking about tiling it. The floor is pretty uneven and the water likes to puddle when I forget to shut off my RO lol. Only problem with doing a floor is that I'll want to put a new floor drain in and grade everything towards it.:fun5:

The more I think about the fish room and what I can/or/should do. I can see the cost going up and up. It also pushes back the time frame for getting the tank wet.

I guess we will see what happens, sooner rather then later.

Until then my friends.

I don't know if someone mentioned it before but if you plan to wall mount something, you can put some in-wall blocking now before you wrap your walls.

Really nice work all the way around - house, casework and attention to detail! Bravo! Oh love the dimensions of the tank too.

I have to ask, what caused this streak in this pic? Looks other-worldly LOL

That's a great idea. I hate using a stud finder, drilling it and always wondering how much of the stud you really hit. lol

Thank you for your compliments.

As for the tank dimensions, it was an inspiration I had a few years back when I was really into nanos.
Here are the criteria I had when deciding on the dimensions.

1 - Must be shallow enough where I don't need powerful lights to keep SPS and I don't get my arm pits wet.

2 - Must be long enough for tangs and then some. It was suppose to be 96" long, but I figured 84" was enough for the space it was going to go. I still needed the tank to be proportional to the room it was going in

3 - Can't be too deep as per the wife.

So 84x18x18 was the end results after a lot of back and forth with boss.

I was really worried about the depth at first, but now that i have it, I'm loving it. It really has that sleek look we are after. The 3/4 glass is killer!
Aqua scape is going to be a challenger for sure, but I'm going to keep it simple and let the SPS fill it out over time.

As for the streak, I used a flash light with a 6 sec exposure. IIRC

Top Notch work on the stand. Love It. I sent you a PM hoping you can give me some tips as ive been working on my stand for a few months now and am at a stand still. I have a similar finish in mind, just need some tips on the best way to achieve it.

Thank you, I'm sent you a PM on the deets

mega! how many peeps did it take to carry that beast in ? ;D

Mega is right, it took 4 guys to bring it in without problems. 2 guys could get it done, but it's not worth it. Going from 1/2" to 3/4 makes the tank 50% heavier
but it also makes it 100% sexier:inlove::inlove::inlove:

Just had a chance to look through this, really excellent build - very well thought out. can't wait to see you put water in it!

Might hit you up for more details on the tank builder - planning a basement build later on in the year.

Going to be an amazing build....subscribed

Only thing you should do its trade in those audis n get a proper German car BMW.....

Thank man!

Sorry man, I'm an Audi guy. I've been with them for 12 years and they have made this tank build possible :)
Nothing wrong with BWM, we except for their X DRIVE :love1:

Thank you Noy, TFT buddy. ;) I'm just working on getting stand into position, levelled and the tank onto the stand for now lol.
Contact me if you need the deets on the tank. I'm more then happy to help.

So after spending some time in my fish room. I might have to change things up a bit to save room and time. POssible make it more efficient. I'm planning on getting rid of the separate frag tank and incorporating it into the sump. It's all up in the air for now. So let me know what you think.

First section is for the skimmer of course.
Second section will house most of my Live rock.
Third section will house the frag tank section. I'll be running a AI sol blue here. I can move the frag tank into the middle section and move the dimensions over, but I've found with a light too close to the skimmer it starts to grow coraline algae on the skimmer body. I'm not sure if it effects the performance of the skimmer. Any thoughts on this?

Or should I add a 3-4" deep section for DSB pictured below? Anyone running DSB anymore? IDK anymore, this build is out of control lol

So does any one think I should I run a DSB in the sump or not?

I found a 18x18x96 glass tank for the sump. Should be picking it up this weekend. It ain't pretty though lol

I had the same dilemma and finally decided against the DSB, there are not that many benefits to it from what they say on RC.

I must be getting old cause I'm much more interested in how awesome your house renovation turned out. Very impressive.
