DFason's 35g Shallow SPS Build

Well after having a very productive day....( enter sarcasm here ) I have pictures! Well a couple days ago my Flasher wrasse felt like taking a dive and about five minutes out of the water I grab it, pealed the hair and crap off and tossed him back in. Needless to say he a little timid but should not be jumping again.

The RKL has been working great and has made my life so much easier. I am only running my lights for 7 hours and have been dosing the following...
4 drops of MB7
1 drop of Lugols once a week
26mL Calcium
13mL Alk
no more vodka ( it just STARVED my corals )

I picked up a Pom Pom crab but he to is a little timid right now but looks great. I am still searching for some more trimmas and smaller dart gobies. I've even tossed around the idea of a Helfichi or two :D

Still have not made to much head way with the new stand but I hope to start it soon. I will FINALLY be getting my frag pack this Tuesday. Bubble Gum Monster, Mummy Eye, Emerald Mummy Eye, Dendro and Icefire! WHOOP!

My girlfriend has been taking more interest in my tank and snapped a photo when I was working...

Well I was able to take a break and snap a few pictures. The chalices are growing, hopefully in a month or so they will start to take off. My WM now has a great green rim and a good amount of eyes. Everything else has been doing great even with the red bugs. I just need to get off my butt and dose the interceptor. I have an aptasia problem and I plan on going to walmart and buying pickling lime and nuke those SOB's. Other than that the tank has been doing great!

I have been dosing 1mL every Sunday with vodka and I have not seen any ill effects. I am still dosing the MB7 and Lugols too. I have been feeding twice a day and things look extra happy. I figure the skimmer is pulling out all the extra doo-doo. I really want to try the Reef Nutrition stuff out. I have been using the Arctic Pods for a while now and my only complaint is that they are SUPER oily and my skimmer loses its head for two+ hours. I would love to try the oyster stuff and fuzzy things too.

Well I officially hate Time Warner. They suck I had no internet for a few days :(

Anyways I was able to snap some pictures that turned out well. I have been reading about the Bio-Pellets that sound promising. Aquarium Specialty will be carrying them and they are just down in SC.

Like I have said before, my tank looks AMAZING with the new bulbs. I am still battling the aptasia and some bubble algae but nothing I am worried about. Just working on it small amounts has helped a ton. I really want to add some smaller fish the next few months but things have been tight. I sold my Dendro only because I like to keep my hands out of this tank and not enough time to feed it.

Now for the pictures...

Thanks roiy. Most have started as 1/2" to 1" frags so hopefully the next few months they will start to take off.

Thanks ziy. Things have been growing quicker due to the larger size. I really want to try out some Reef Nutrition products to see if I can increase growth and color.

Here's some photo's that I took today. I'm getting a little better with the point and shoot and the white balance and all that camera talk. I hope to pick up a new DLSR soon to keep up with all you guys. The Setosa, Undata and Mummy Eye turned out as my favorites. :D

Well I needed a really lazy weekend. I have worked 12-15 hour days last week and needed some time to veg out. I snapped a few pictures and I will only add this one. This one turned out AWESOME :D

The FACE series tank is underway ( I am going to try and start a small side business and build custom tank and stand combos and this will be the first). I ended up adding everything together and with me only being 24 and looking for a house I did not want a tank that would be a pain in the butt to move. So I have this going and is a set in stone.... I am selling the SS stand and have a new steel stand being made and will be finished Dec. 15th. Tank glass has been ordered 13mm low iron, beveled and polished. I will have black silicon and the dimensions will be 30x22x20. This will be the start to a FACE series tank ;)

As for the the aquascape for the new tank that will be up in the air. My girlfriend gave me a really cool print that I look at every morning. I love the picture and I have been thinking of doing some type of aquascaping like it. Shallow rocks, overgrown coral forest, fish swimming through and inverts hiding in the depth of the corals and rock. Hell who knows, I think I could figure something out with 22" of depth to work with!

Any ways here is the picture from today and the print.

Thanks guys!

Its just been on auto pilot lately and letting things grow. The Red planet stung the hawkins but I will just let them fight it out.

Great looking tank dude. Do you still play paintball? I used to play every weekend and I played in some state tourneys but it got too expensive so I had to get out for a while. It seems like a lot people that play paintball enjoy the aquarium hobby aswell.

Thanks. I am out of playing now but I still work in the industry. I was traveling over Europe and went to Asia too. It got a little much and I am living a more "normal" life.

I love this hobby, keeps me on my toes like paintball did in a different way!
