order from link
can run 80 leds

That's awesome. Thanks. Also do you have the wiring diagram. Is it just 11 in series & 8 in paralles? Are you using any resistive load / fuse? It will be very helpful if you can guide me to the wiring schematic. Thanks for a fantastic and useful thread

no i do not use any resistive load/fuse
I did 10 LEDs in series and 8 in parallel string

It is a good idea to use fuses. If you have one LED go bad and it takes down one string, you could overpower all the strings and lose LED's in all of them. Fuses are pretty cheap, less than $1 each. Pretty cheap insurance.

aim loking fore 80 white 18k iff any one have them on hand or du any one cona du order i msg them both no respond fore last 5 days i try tu du 80 white -40 royal blue i olready have i hoppe is not cona be tu much fore 48x24x18 costume rimles tank around 90 g .

wow Jae....you came over to the darkside :)

you really should put fuses in there though...cheap, easy, and if nothing else saves you from having to replace 80 LEDs as opposed to just 1 or 2.

BMB - How many FEDY LEDs can I run on a 185-42B? I was planning on running 7 strings of 11. That work? Or do I need to bump it to 8 strings to drive around 650ish mA?

7 or 8 is fine...as is 11 in series. don't have the spec sheet handy but I believe its 4.4A so 550ma-650ma.

Been following along on this thread, but trying to help a friend out......

They are in the process of building their fixture now. They are using the HLG 240-48B drivers. Leds are XP-G's and XR-E blues and RB's. They checked continuity on the leds and such, and all appears fine. When the wire the driver in, the first LED shows a short????

When they fired the unit, it did light. When they went to dial the pot up it blew the fuses. Where should we start checking?

first of all...if the 1st LED shows a short...why was the fixture powered up? did they clear it, was it shorted, what was it short to? how do they know it was shorted?

2nd thing is...without telling us how that 240 is wired, number of strings, how many in a string there is no way to know if something else is wrong.

Shorts are a bad thing though and will cause failures or in this case fuses popping. too few LEDs in a string or too few strings will cause the same thing provided the output per string is more than the rating of the fuse. The good news is those fuses saved a bunch of LEDs!

Provide some more info please if you would like some feedback from the gang here.

BTW...they won't be happy with the dimming on the 240 unless its a new manufacture Aug 2011 or later. The early ones did not dim below 50%.

Sorry for lack of info.....

They are running 6 strings, with 12 LEDs in each string. I'm not quite sure how they really determined the first led was shorted or not???? Not physically there. Other than they did a continuity check, and did the battery test to verify each led lit. The only facts I know is that when the checked LEDs with no driver attached they all checked fine connection wise. After the driver was wired in and rechecked is when they are seeing the first led is "shorted". What would be the proper step/check to verify the connection once driver is wired in?

I'm pretty positive they have the newer version of the HLG driver but can double check with them on that.

They should check continuity not only of each connection but also each connection to their heatsink. If there is continuity between the LED and heatsink its a short and needs to be cleared.

6 strings should be fine but will yield just under 1 amp per string. If they are using 1 amp fuses and they have that one LED shorted it may have opened that string and it will be near instantaneous that the rest of the strings go.

So check each LED to the heatsink for shorts 1st.

Did any one con help me i try tu geth 100 18k led , i try msg them from website no response , i send 2-3 msg nothing happend no response at oll aim in US any one con point me the right directions vhere i con aorder them from or any one have 100 18k led for sale pm or respond pleasehelp thank you.
