DIY Stands Template and Calculator

So here we are, I have a 130x37x44 tank 920/g going on this stand . The stand is only 27" tall.My cieling is 8' so i have only 27 on top as well. I still have to put the cross brace and the plywood on top. It's made totally out of 2x4's due to the fact i wouldn't be able to get my hand inside the sump with the added dimensions with using 2x6 or 2x8's. The largest span on front is 27" and 26 across on top.
Any critique before I button it up?

4 - 2x4's in each corner 2 in front and 2 in back.

Looking forward to this build!

Stand for my 90g

Stand for my 90g

Hello all, trying to get some concept drawings for my stand for my 90 tank.

My 90g dimensions are as follows: 60"x18"x20" (L x W x H).
Below is what I am 'hoping' will work for my stand.

2x4's on the bottom, with 2x6 risers with 2x6's on the top plate, though I was planning on using 2x4's in the top plate for the cross supports.

I don't want to have a cross brace in the middle as I would like to have as much as possible open for the doors, but I would have a 2x6 in the back of the stand as shown. I was planning on skinning it with 1/2" plywood.

Do you think this will be strong enough? Let me know if you need any more info and all comments are welcomed.

Are you guys just using the "top-choice" 2x4s from lowes? I built my 180 and skinned it and the more and more I look at it, the more I hate it. Warped 2x4s even after spending over an hour picking out the best. Rounded corners also make it harder and look just as bad.

Am I missing something here? Where are you guys finding the decent 2x8 and 2x4?

Plan>B according to the OP that will work
Thanks for the reply TheFishMan65... I thought it might be, but I wasn't sure with the span and the opening.

One other question for you guys... I would like to paint the inside, what would be a really good paint that I could use after the primer (kiltz) so it won't blister with the water?

I went to a lumber store that sells resawn lumber the kind used to build patio covers, I had the rounded corners cut off so everything would sit and square up nicely, I built a stand for a 120 gallon tank and paid less than 30 dollars for all the wood and cuts. PS they picked all the lumber and everything was perfect.

looking at mine again, my woods are all twisted and stuff too. disappoints me, which is why my next stand will be steel

I think that settles it for me. I am going to try some local lumber places to see if they can get some quality 2x4s and 2x8s that i'll need.

Today when taking the 180 off my stand it caught a piece of the oak plywood and ripped off a big chunk of the oak vainer so ya... I think I have my new work bench to make my second stand for it.

Just my $0.02 on wood quality. I got mine at lowes and probably went through 3-4 times as many pieces as I actually bought. I have not checked but they make a "five quarter board" or used to. It is 1.25 rather than 1.5 and probably 1/4 short in the other direction. It may be cheaper than a mill or having it cut. I am not sure if it meets to OP originally requirement of 1/8 bow. Rocket can you run the numbers?

Will kilz waterproof the bottom of my stand or should I use some sort of epoxy? I want it to be able to hold water should there be a leak, etc.

liz62 after painting you could caulk the bottom i did this and when my skimmer overflowed it held the water fine about 3" worth

Well, after everything I'm ready for paint!
