Looks great. I'm assuming the bottom cross braces are flat so you can increase working space in the sump area?
Anyone have any input if I can put a 5 foot tank centered on a 6 foot stand without any issues?
What is the best kind of paint for the interior of the stand to help against moisture and spills?

In finishing off my 90g stand, I noticed a knot on the front top 2x4. No clue how I missed it initially! Here are pics of it from the top and from the inside of the stand. Is it unsafe? The perpendicular 2x4 in the pic is one of the horizontals which is 2/3rds of the way across so the knot is a little more than 2/3rds over from the left if facing the tank. (If that makes sense)

By support do you mean stand legs or a sheet of plywood on top?

Bump, looking to see if a 5 foot tank can be centered on a 6 foot stand without any additional support
Top frame is made with 2x6 and the 4 legs are also 2x6.
Trying to not have a front center brace, will put one in the back if its needed.
I've read through about 60 pages of this monster 200+ page article... But haven't really seen anything for Bowfront tanks.
I want to start building one soon but wanted to see if there were any I could model from... And hopefully ask some questions about!
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Other than attaching a metal plate, there is not much that would address this. Is it going to have a glass tank set on top of it? Unless the board begins to bend upward at the knot, it shouldn't be a factor with glass.I have ten glass tanks, 150 to 75 gallon, that I can see daylight left to right all the way under the tank and they only touch the stand on the corners. In finishing off my 90g stand, I noticed a knot on the front top 2x4. Rocket -
for the stands, do you think I can make "feet" out of 2x4 blocks under each corner? This would raise the stand about 1.5" and match the surrounding furniture in the room?
I think my concern would be the middle eventually pushing down, unless I would add a support block in the middle as well.
What do you think?
Yes you can but just ace them directly beneath any vertical supports. I did this on my 120gRocket -
