so i have to know, are any of you having any luck with these so far,or did they find there way under 5000000lbs of garbage

mine are still spinning. i just modified another one and it is even sweeter than the first one now that i have it down to an understanding of all the glitches. the sps are happier than ever.
good luck with yours and let us know how it works out.

Just an update for everyone. There was a storm thismorning and I lost power for a few mins. One tried to restart and then just stoped and other couldent decide if it wanted to go foward or back and poped the whole impeller assembly out of the maxi jet... so the one the just stoped i unpluged and pluged it back in and it started right up. Repaired the other and it started right up also so im not really sure why neither started up after the poweroutage weird :)

o'well niko5 look at the bright side you still saved a wod of cash. now lets go get some big sps with the funds we all saved.
mine are still working great allthough i think one of the bushings wore a bit. i think ill spend .50 cents on a new bushing.

this may an absolutely stupid idea....but it has been running through my head since I read this thread.

What if you were to make the propeller housing, like this:

and attach it to return of a closed loop instead of a powerhead. I know there would be no engine driving the propeller to spin, but in my head, I envision the propeller spinning much like a pinwheel in the wind.

The returns from a closed loop seem to deliver a pretty narrow stream of water. If by adding a propeller to the end of it you could get the same thing, it would be awesome!!

Just a thought....please let me know if I am completely off base

That might be kind of neat.. It seems like it would work.. I may try and work somethin up and see if it does do anything with the outward flow.

By the way is that Black PVC or black acrylic tube?

yeah niko, let me know how it works for you, if at all.

I am going to be adding a closed loop system to my 250 next week and will try this out as well. If it works, awesome.....if it doesn't, its only a couple of extra bucks

I wonder if rather than a prop on it you take the pipe and glue in acrylic at the end to make an X and then file the acrylic down to make angled blades and the water would just hit them and be forced to spin out.. i don't know just a thought.. still want to try the prop.

not a stupid idea. First thing I thought of, put one infront of a powerhead, and voila, wicked variable flow (not this blast coming out of a 1/2" hole).
