Marc- Looks to me that they were working in sync in that mode. But I could be wrong. BTW did you ever find my email?

Replied, at last. :p

Ok I have been tagging along quietly watching your build and I have to say that your attention to detail is unbelievable. I look forward to seeing you finish this. Can't wait to see your aquascaping! The wave by from the Vortech is awesome are they both on one side or are they facing each other?

Thank you hypernesia. :) In the video the Vortechs are at opposite ends (sides) of the tank facing in towards each other. I just couldn't believe how fast they would make a wave. I'm still a little scared of it though. Have bad thoughts it will blow my tank apart. Probably just from the disclaimer in the manual that's freaking me out about it.

Do you have them working in sync mode or a-sync mode?

Sorry, been at work all day. :p Yes, they were in sync mode. I get now how to sync and anti-sync but is there an easy way to take my second Vortech out of slave mode without resetting the memory?

The only thing about the Vortechs that's a little frustrating is the manual. It's very descriptive on what they can do but doesn't go into detail on what buttons to push to do it. Is there a guide that you know of that details all the settings of the MP40's?

Were your returns running during that wave? Did you have any issues with the fluctuating water level affecting your overflow boxes?

Nah, it was the Vortechs doing that. :) The water was going well below the overflow at either ends but probably was still keeping a siphon. I need to investigate that further though. When I was running it I had the return pump off so some water drained out of the display, otherwise it would have probably pushed the wave over the sides. I probably won't be using the wave much though. I kind of view it as a novelty setting at this point. Cool to show friends though. And I'm still a little freaked out about it blowing my tank apart. :D

What does the disclaimer say?

It says... and I quote :D

"The generation of waves within your aquarium places additional stress on the aquarium glass and joints. Not all aquarium tanks are designed to withstand this stress, and failure of the glass and/or joints could result. You are encouraged, before generating waves, to consult with your aquarium tank manufacturer to determine if the tank construction is adequate to withstand the additional stress generated by the wave motion. You are also encouraged to assure that your aquarium stand or furniture is adequately stable to withstand the additional stress resulting from wave generation.
EcoTech Marine DISCLAIMS AND WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR, damage to the aquarium tanks or their surroundings, water damage, or any other consequential damages resulting from wave generation. MAKE WAVES AT YOUR OWN RISK."

I'd suggest reefcrest mode (using a slave/master setup).

Oh yeah, that's what I've been messing around with. Seems like a lot of people use this setting and are happy with it. Is there an easy way to take the pumps out of Master/Slave mode without resetting the memory?

That I am not sure TBH, sorry.

I know I may be getting ahead of your project here, but when you do that film for the back glass take some extra pics please :). I am considering my options paint/film/vinyl/"faux"rockwall...

Will do. I need to start looking for some Coroplast around here soon. I know most sign stores use it to make signs but don't know if they sell whole sheets. Guess I'll start calling around.

Now that I have put reef discussion on MY RC page, I am getting caught up on a lot of threads over here, so let the bantering continue :p
