dvanacker's 200g SPS tank......

Darryl. I have taken an interest in your system ... Whats the status of your battle with the cyano ?

A few posts back you asked for feedback regarding this problem ...

Personally, I would combat this problem on two fronts. First, and foremost, by the addition of a high quality, multiple strain bacteria source (ZEObak). Secondly, thru the addition of a proteyolitic enzyme (ZEOzym).

Initially, try dosing the Bak at 1 drop per 25G/day for the first 2wks.

If this doesnt produce a positive result, then mix the ZEOzym, at half the recommended dosage to begin ( a little goes a long way, as the RD is 1/5 tsp per 250G), with .5 - 1L display water and let sit for 8-10 hrs. Add 1 drop Bak per 25G and let sit another 20-30 min. Mix and disperse evenly into high flow areas with skimmer/filter bags off for 2-3 hrs. Do this 2-3x wk, gradually ramping up dosage and/or frequency, if needed, to 1/4 tsp per 250G and every other day, respectively.

If you still experience cyano problems, then continue with the above treatment but now include the addition of 1ml Coral Snow per 50G, gradually ramping up to 1ml per 25G, if needed; Dispensed in the same fashion/timeframe as the Bak/ZZ combination.

I feel strongly that, if necessary, a combination of these 3 products will expeditiously help rid your system of the cyanobacteria ...

Your success was undoubtedly built around a solid base of stability, which has been greatly taken into consideration in the above recommendations/treatments/dosages. Take it slow, gradually ramping up dosages/supplements, until the desired results have been achieved !

*Just for clarification, for the few who will ask/comment, in no way am I affiliated with, nor endorsing, the ZEOvit system or its Proprietor. Just a satisfied user pointing out/recommending, for the possible benefit of a unique system, 3 specialized products that, if used properly, in the correct sequence/dosage, can produce excellent results pertaining to the aforementioned cyanobacteria problems, among others.*

Whoa! That limeaid is wicked, Im sure your toss away pics are better than my keepers!
Thanks.... yesterday I won an ebay auction for a used Macro Lens for my DSLR.....super exited about this. $100 for a $500 lens is not too bad.....should have it in a week or 2 and we will see what I can do with it. :)

Very nice as always! Where did you get your sniperSPS bubblegum from? It looks great, I didn't know it was the snipersps version; from memory I've thought you had always just called it your "bubblegum" mille.
thanks....PM sent.

what is your light cycle and how far off the tank are the halides Thanks
Actinics (which are 2x110w super actinic VHO and 20xCree RB LED) run for 13hrs. The MH start with about 5hrs when the bulbs are new and every once in a while as the bulbs age I bump up the time and at the end of the year when they need to be changed I'm at about 7hrs or 8hrs.

Dude if I were a burglar and reef hobbyist in one, I'd attempt to burgal your house just for the SPS corals! :D
That is a scary thought. I hope no one is getting and strange ideas....if so I have the top of the line security system and an old police dog that got kicked off the force for killing someone. THIS = ME .:uzi::deadhorse::blown:

Hells yeah. You have a very select seclection of sps in your tank. I am on the quest for more exotic colorfully sps. I am having to go online to find what I want. You are doing a spectacular job with your tank and it shows. My color is decent but yours is top notch.
Thanks very much.....keep working at it and Im sure you will get there.

Darryl. I have taken an interest in your system ... Whats the status of your battle with the cyano ?
Thank you for your advice. However I have made great progress in the battle against cyano. I'm using WM ultimate snow once a week when I blow the rocks off and stir the top bit of sand. After a month or two of use the cyano is gone. I'm confident that the snow has worked because I did this a year ago and the cyano went away....I stoped and after about 3 or 4months the cyano came back......so this is the second time my cyano has been treated with this product and success both times. It takes a while of use but Im confident this is what works for me.

Totm for sure!!!!
Awesome corals Darryl
that northern delight looks a lot like my old microcladus (pre 300g bust days)
That granulosa is unbelievable. Who do I have to sell a kidney to to get one?
Thanks guys..

why do you grow them out over baby jars? I may of missed the answer already.

This has to be one of my fav tanks.
Just a wacky idea....it makes for a cool growth pattern. There is only one baby food jar with a colony of meteor shower on it.

I love the placement of your corals. Your tank is deep enough as to allow each of them to have plenty of room to grow. The colors are amazing too! I wish I lived near you to pick up some frags.

I just went through this whole thread and I must say, you have some of the most amazing corals I've ever seen! I was truly excited going through each page.. that "Northern Lights" is off the chain!

Wow your tank is looking really good.
Whenever I get an email update from you, I always have the bib ready for the drool. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks!

I find the FTS can't really cature the depth...there are colonies that don't really show up on the FTS. I could take a shot of the side and it would look like a whole other tank. I should do that some time.
wow amazing picture ! new camera ?
love every single one of your corals :)
Same camera. This FTS looks very similar to my last in Dec. I think I've just really fine tuned my aquarium photography. I would love to get a macro some day cause Im shooting with the stock lense but I have an olympus which is really an off brand and I dont think I want to invest any more $ into this camera.

Looks great as always. Is that a lineaged My Miami or a look alike? Very nice either way.
Lineaged back to the ocean :spin3:

Its a recent wild import.

Thanks.....I like that coral too if only for the fact that its unique and I discovered it. It makes a good captive specimen as well...good grower and seems pretty hardy.
