That is a picture well deserved of the honour! Congrats!
That is a nice shot!

Not quite as good as seeing it in person though :)

Congratulations on a great pic. The Sarmentos looks GREAT!!! You have the magic touch.

I will have to get your autograph next time I see you, now that your tank has made a magazine

Your tank is definitly an inspiration to me. I am pretty much using the same filtration methods as you (Big skimmer, carbon, biopellets and 2 part with E bionic and lots of fish) but I cant seem to get the real rich coloration as you. Question, do you supplement and other elements like iron, strontium, sponge power etc? Also, where do you keep your parameters? I apologize if these questions were already asked and answered in any of the previous posts. Again, Awesome sps tank!!!

thanks. I understand how frustrating it can be to cruz a long thread looking for a tid bit of information. I don't supplement anything other than the basic 3 major elements (alk,ca,mg) but I also use coral snow to keep the cyano at bay. Besides food....thats it. I will say that it took around 6 months after upgrading tanks to start to get really good colors so it doesnt happen overnight...as nothing good in this hobby happens fast. As long as your corals are healthy and parameters are good I would stay the course.

Parameters
Alk 7-8dkh
CA 360-420ppm
mg 1150-1250
NO3 undetectable (salifert but hasnt been tested in almost 1.5yrs probably)
PO4 undetectable (hanna checker but also hasnt been tested in over 1yr)

I know my routine and my tank well. I only test ALK,CA and MG once a month and usually they are on the low end of my range....at that time I manually bump them back up to the high end of the range. Oh except magnesium probably only gets does once every 3 months.

Ok, thanks for the response. I have been dosing zeobak and microbacter on alternate days. plus sponge power everyday and pohls xtra 3 times a week. Although, Im doing a lower dose than is recommended I should stop and see what happens. Its so hard because I think I am a dose junkie. LOL. Im gonna give it a try but its gonna be tough. Thanks again darryl.

If I may add something here jverna1, Coral Snow can do two things for you. It will help reduce waste and bring nutrient to your coral. As it was explained to me by the ZeoVIT rep, "Coral Snow is inorganic micro flocculate bioclay which helps remove particulate matter and Coral Snow has the ability to bind to other additives, as well as the mucus membrane of corals"

This is why, in my experience, Coral Snow helps reduce nutrients/cyano bacteria and at the same time can feed my coral this nutrient along with some of the other additives I mixed into it.

:)

Beautiful tank and photo's. I also wanted to say thank you for taking the time to answer everyone's questions so thoroughly, it really helps those of us still trying to "get there" and we learn a lot from folks like you.

Hey Buddy, it's nothing like having friends with tanks like yours to visit here on RC to help keep focus and to renew excitement about the hobby. My tank is struggling a bit right now due over feeding and a bad po4 kit. Thanks once again for the inspiration D!

NUTS! I rly dont have much to say man, your a artist at what you do! I wish i was up that way so i could come and share a few drinks while checking it out.

I noticed you mentioned your keeping your lights 8-10" off the surface, is this 8-10" from the bulb or the reflector? How many 400w fixtures / VHOs are you running now?

thanks guys...
Stunning tank

what ballast so you use with the xm20K's?
Just M59 Magnetic ballasts...

Probably 8-10" to the reflector and 10-12" to the bulb. Its 2 x 400w 20k, 2 x 110w super actinic VHO and 20 Cree royal blue LEDs.
