dvanacker's 200g SPS tank......

Darryl, things are looking really good. Love the FTS. Can't wait until some of those frags are colonies of fragable size! ;)

I know you have had a bit of cyano like I have with the carbon dosing (well, mine is more than a bit) - any luck beating it back? The benefits in terms of colour coloration definitely seem to outweight a bit of cyano IMO though.

Looking good Darryl. Try putting one of those red digitata frags as high as you can get it in your tank, it goes pink under very high light.

How about adding a CBB for those aiptasia, and tank this size should support one, and ideally you can get it to eat mysis.

Your tank is looking Boss D! Loving it man! There is no better feeling than to go away and come back to healthy tank. It says alot about your system.

By the way the copperband worked out lovely. Apstasia has been sent to the Abyss!!!! The yellow tang harrasses him for a while, bu thtne relaxed. It took him about a month or more, to eat anything that I introduced to the tank and then one day he started going after mysis with vigor.. I wanted to pass that along based on earlier conversation..

Im finding some luck with stiring the top portion of the sand. Also using the WM ultimate snow and I also turned the flow down on the biopellet reactor. Not sure what is helping but there is some improvement...not totally gone yet though.

Thanks for the tip Dave. I know that it can go pink but Im not sure I have a good spot for it up high....I like the darker colour probably just as much too.

Great looking tank.. Great photo too!! The A. Deswalli is so hairy, lol..
thanks....

thanks John..because of what you and Dave have suggested I'm seriously considering the copperband now.....I was thinking about berghia nudi's but not too sure about them.

Hey Dave how do you find the yellow coraliniana as far as growth? I got one about a month ago and its just starting to encrust, seems like a slow grower. Its under 250w radiums currently.

I considered the nudis as well, but was afraid that my wrasses would probably go nuts and have a pricey lunch on me.. LOL

I think you meant to ask me that (Darryl). Mine is also a slow grower....very nice coral though...always seems the nicest ones are the slowest growers.

Same here....I have a flame hawk and harlequin tusk. Also I have a huge black hitch hiker crab. Those nudis are expensive!@

Very nice photos and sps! Chef!
Thanks Chef!

Some more shots tonight. Mostly just frags or corals I havent photographed yet.

lol sorry about that Darryl, don't know why I said Dave. Corals are all looking great!

Darryl, your tank and your collection are amazing - when can I come over to take a look? :D I can't wait to have SPS again after losing 90% of mine.

Saw your frags on the other site - too bad you're not closer or I'd be all over all of them.

nice tank gives me insperation
Thanks....I get so much insperation at pictures of other peoples tanks it nice to hear that about your own.

wow now that is nice. love the colors and the diversity you have there. nice looking clam as well
thanks again...not sure which clam your talking about...but I like clams :)

no worries

Bro... you have to give me some photography lessons! Jeez.... :lmao:
I don't know about lessons but here are some tips (you might be doing some or all of these already).

-turn all the pumps off, take pictures at night (less reflections) & never use flash
-use a tripod when possible and set the timer for 2s so your hand doesnt move the camera
-move closer to the subject rather then using the zoom if possible...the more zoom you use the less DOF/Aperature you can get
-I personally use aperature mode for close ups and single subject pictures and program mode for FTS and scenic shots
-use some kind of acylic box to take top down shots
-set up a custom white balance, adjust exposure (most likely needed), and possilby do some tweeking with software if needed (only to get the best repesentation/whitebalance etc. so no cheating).

that is about it......also if you can afford it I love seeing those pics with a nice 100mm macro (dont own one myself).

Hey Darryl where did you find that sunset milli? That peice is awsome !
Thanks, that peice came as a frag from a local who had an amazing tank at the time. It was one of my favorites in his tank though....

If your ever driving by Woodstock (where the 401 meets the 403) you are more than welcome to stop in and check it out. I see that you have a very nice build going.....looks like your tank will be very nice.

Thanks for all the tips!! This is very good information for me.. I have a box.. and a nice 100 2.8 Macro.. The lack of skill is the problem... Now I have something to go by...
