Wow Ed, everything looks perfect! Can't wait to see how u do the aqua scape. By the way, just ordered a rimless low iron from Miracles yesterday, around 250 gal so guess I am joining the ranks :) I will be watching your build close for ideas to steal :) once again congrats to you, and fullspeed ahead! jr

Hey Ed! It´s very good to see you back to busyness, I´m very glad you´re healthy and motivated, yor last tank was really amazing and inspiring for me....
I can´t believe I missed 12 pages of your thread!!!
Sweeeet tank, awesome project as allways, Ed, tank you again for sharing your building, I´ll now set up my new 125G peninsular reef and I hope it can be only as half as beautyful as your last tank, tanks for all the ideas I "stole".....

Now, let´s get it on! I´m looking foward to see this thing wet!

Only one more thing, are you planing to keep the same range of species like your last tank or should be something new, some new fish species?

Goood luck@
My best wishes.

Magic Ed ... love your humour!!

Your tank is one of the most beautifully crafted tanks that I have ever seen ... I never want to hear anybody criticise Chinese products again. The edge arissing and jointing is incredibly good!

Bravo!!!!

Ok ... time to reveal the aquascaping designs; nothing but full design disclosure ;)

Tone

Gorgeous tank, Ed! Looks really perfectly done. Together with your unbelievable stand, this is one classy combination!

Thanks Tom - coming from someone who's as detail in their work as you is a true honor!! :p

Nice to see you back at it and this will be a another masterpiece. I like the design very much and look forward to seeing what you do with the lights.

Wish things would move this quickly back over our way, I look forward to seeing this thing progress. At this pace its what, a week or two before you have water in this bad boy?

Thanks thirschmann for your vote of confidence.

At the pace I'm going, i'm hoping to get this bad boy wet in hopefully 2 weeks?? :D Plumbing work will start soon...

No break for me (ooooops, I mean my boys)

Thanks Felipe - great to have you on board again. WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG? :D

Well, it's still basically a 80% SPS/ 20% LPS tank but will try to collect more tables this time. Also planning more clams as the main view for this tank is the top view, instead of the usual side view

No butterflies this time for fishes but instead many smaller group fishes as I want it to look proportion to the whole concept....but might still add a tang or two :p

OVERFLOW

OVERFLOW

OVERFLOW:

I design a removable wier using 10mm black acyclic with computer cutout, which I can easily removed for cleaning every couple of months. (ignore the PVC pipe pictures as I just add that in to see the space I have…)

Overflow01.jpg

Also a cut-out a section for a 25mm return pipe

Overflow02.jpg

A 2mm black acyclic is glue to the base of the wier to secure it to the overflow box.

Overflow03.jpg

With the amount of flow I’m planning inside this shallow rimless tank, I cut a longer and wider opening for the wier.

Overflow04.jpg

I even have a spare wier made as well so that I can replace periodically for cleaning….

Overflow05.jpg

The top of the wier is 10mm thick on each side and very strong as I planned to place a pre-cut acyclic of 25cm x 25cm over the top of the overflow box to support my ‘Island’ landscape above the tank.

Reason I used acyclic instead of a 10mm glass is because acyclic is much stronger and do not chip…

Well…..what do you guys think so far??

:D

Next Project….

Next will be working on my plumbing, which is something I simply hate in this hobby…. But good thing is I have plumbers and electricians in the hotel working for me hahahaha!!

:lolspin:

Ed,

I just read over 120 pages of your prior build thread and this new one and I'm quite inspired. I wish I had the resources and space to do a system like yours, quite jealous. (I have my first child due in lest than 10 days so my Reef dreams will be on hold for now.) Right now I'll have to stick with my 90 & 125 which I my plumb together with a 110gal sump/ lagoon to make my pseudo large tank system.

I am quite intrigued with the Zeovit now that I have to start researching more about that.

Keep up the great work! I will be curious how you will incorporate more Fengshui practices in your aquascaping :)

Ellery

Ed just love the stand.. And thats is a sweet tank..
Keep up the great work!
And then fill this bad boy with some nice sps and butterflies :)

Thanks Sandy - now from a lady point of view - do you vote for the industrial look or the floating canopy look??

Honestly, our light rack "IS" the "Industrial Look".........
but, you have to remember, my light rack is out of site too.
Our tank is built into the wall.

If I were your wife, and the tank is in the middle of the room AND you already have such a beautiful stand......

I vote for the canopy look, to me it will look unfinished if you do not choose a canopy.
That's my honest opinion. :p

the tank looks great Ed! love the width too. that removable wier you had made is pretty sweet... seems you have alot of resources at your disposal :) must be nice :D
