Great job on the light rack Ed!

Thanks Sandy - now from a lady point of view - do you vote for the industrial look or the floating canopy look??

MAKING PREPARATIONS…..

MAKING PREPARATIONS…..

OK, I admit, nothing much to update but what a guy to do as all that’s on his mind is the tank being delivered TOMORROW so today I gave my stand a good cleaning and also start moving furniture’s aside to make way for it!!

After all these years, I’m still excited to see a new tank being deliver….

I don’t know, but there is just something special about new tanks

Meanwhile, I started to roll out the rubber mat for the tank base…

CabinetDisplay31.jpg

The thickness of this rubber mat is 3mm and I bought it from a factory that produces computer mouse pad so very good quality and works great.

Can’t wait for tomorrow â€"œ I’m like a kid the night before Christmas, if you know what I mean… lol

OOooooh almost forgot to update, the final Schematics Diagram of the tank for those who are interested.

Stay tune for a BIG updates after the weekend…!!

I am very excited! I feel like a kid at Christmas too...lol, and it isn't even my tank! Anyways, for what it is worth, I like the industrial look myself. If you were to enclose it I would just do it in aluminum... But you are the man with the vision, so you do what you want and I know it will be amazing!

Wow Ed... this build is already looking fantastic. Can't believe how fast it came together and that I totally missed it before now :)

Glad to have you back already!! Good luck tomorrow. Can't wait to see what you come up with for this tank.

fwiw.... nice story about the feng shui and tank builder.... but we all know you went a little bigger to avoid being kicked out of the large tank forums!!! :strooper: :jester:

Hi Ed ... nice to see you back and in good health

I missed your tank building and am pleased to have another opportunity to witness the maestro at work!

Thanks FadeToGrey - I won't go with aluminum as it will be too many mix materials used.

SUMP IS HERE

SUMP IS HERE

Got a called and you guess right!! TANK IS HERE!!

OK, my rimless sump was the first to be send up…..

SO to start off some top down view of my sump tank!

Top View:

Sump â€"œ diagram top view:

Sump â€"œ actual top view:
SumpTankArrived01.jpg

My apology, I took the wrong side of the top down view but you guys get the idea

Side View:

Sump â€"œ actual side view II:
SumpTankArrived03.jpg

The sump glass thickness is 10mm normal glass. Workmanship looks good so that’s a good start….

SUMP BEING DELIVER …

SumpTankArrived04.jpg

I even roll out the red carpet to welcome my sump tank…

SumpTankArrived05.jpg

That was the easy part â€"œ now, with my precise planning the sump length fit to the tee under the cabinet but the problem here is how to get it in there???

So they tried the traditional way, heads in via the 2 front door…

SumpTankArrived06.jpg

Nope, that’s didn’t work. The sump not going in this way, as the widths of the 2 doors are smaller than that length of the tank. And as the cabinet is so ‘perfect’ they cannot turn the sump around :rolleye1:

SumpTankArrived07.jpg

ALTERNATIVE?

Luckily for me, I have the side door access, which is able to slide the sump tank in perfectly…

But they will have to carry the sump tank over the table top and slide it in at an angel as I refuse to move my stand as it’s already perfectly align with my lights… (yes, I can be stubborn at times)

So up and over my table top it went…

SumpTankArrived08.jpg

And down through the side doors…

SumpTankArrived09.jpg

You can just about see the edge of the tank coming into the stand…

SumpTankArrived10.jpg

And after a couple more ‘huff’ and ‘puff’….. a little harder…yes, harder….

SumpTankArrived11.jpg

SumpTankArrived12.jpg

AND YES HE IS IN…..!!

SumpTankArrived14.jpg

You can see how tight the measurement is….

SumpTankArrived15.jpg

Wheeew….this is really nerve wracking to watch….. not to mention taking pictures at the same time !!

Not sure if next time I will go so clooooose !!

:eek1:

MAIN DISPLAY TANK …..

OK, now for the main tank, which should be a breeze after what I saw they went through with the sump tank….

DisplayTankArrived01.jpg

Fit nicely in a pick-up van…. makes me wonder how they manage to get the tank in there as it looks really tight for space??

Well, somehow they manage to wriggle it out and onto a dolly. Now they are waiting for the lift to take them up to the 13th floor..…

DisplayTankArrived02.jpg

DisplayTankArrived03.jpg

“Ding dong” lift door open and out she comes….

DisplayTankArrived04.jpg

and along the corridor…

DisplayTankArrived05.jpg

and more corridors….

DisplayTankArrived06.jpg

and they are here…!! Things are really going smoothly here

DisplayTankArrived07.jpg

“Heeeey…..watch out for the door frame??”

DisplayTankArrived08.jpg

Good thing I shouted out on time or it would have crack the edge of the tank as they were all too relax just pushing the dolly along…

MORE ON DISPLAY TANK….

OK, at this moment (after the close call with the edge of the door frame) it’s now safely inside my apartment.

DisplayTankArrived09.jpg

And a ONE and a TWO and a THREE LIFT….!!

DisplayTankArrived10.jpg

And we are almost there (someone shouted in Chinese)

Notice there are only 4 persons carrying this tank??

DisplayTankArrived11.jpg

DisplayTankArrived12.png

And then I put down my camera and spoke “eeeeerr hey fellows, don’t you want to use these??” pointing to the suckers....

Tank maker: “huh?? oh yah……”

DisplayTankArrived13.jpg

DisplayTankArrived14.jpg

OK, tank almost on top the display…

DisplayTankArrived15.jpg

Final adjustment to ensure all edges is of equal measurements…

DisplayTankArrived16.jpg

My, my my…..this tank looks MUCH wider in real life!! LOVE IT

Mmmmm the base of my tank look like Swiss cheese…

:lol2: :inlove:

MORE PICTURES ….

MORE PICTURES ….

You can see the edges are well joint and very neat silicon job

DisplayTank02.jpg

DisplayTank07.jpg

DisplayTank08.jpg

You can see how perfect the streams are….

DisplayTank03.jpg

DisplayTank04.jpg

All the glass panel edges are nicely polish…

DisplayTank06.jpg

You can see from this picture the difference between the normal glass and low iron glass….

DisplayTank05.jpg

For those who can’t tell the difference, the overflow is using 10mm normal glass and my display is using 15mm Low Iron glass. The difference will be even more obvious if you used a 15mm normal glass as comparison.

Not an Elos tank quality build but I’m still please with the overall quality build, from what I see in Asia and for 1/3 the price too!!

:celeb1: :celeb1: :celeb1:

Gorgeous tank, Ed! Looks really perfectly done. Together with your unbelievable stand, this is one classy combination!

Nice to see you back at it and this will be a another masterpiece. I like the design very much and look forward to seeing what you do with the lights.

Wish things would move this quickly back over our way, I look forward to seeing this thing progress. At this pace its what, a week or two before you have water in this bad boy?
