Thanks Tim :D - now WHEN ARE WE GOING TO SEE YOUR SCAPE MAN??

I like it a lot Ed! Your "art of aquascaping" makes the tank look bigger (especially taller) than it really is.
Thanks fishypets - true, not easy to scape a shallow tank...that's for sure!! To make things looking in proportion is the most difficult part??

BTW what kind of speaker is that in the background? I'd have guessed B&W but don't recognize the box. Looks like you have more than one expensive hobby.

That would be my JBL Creature..... :p

Ed, even though you have glued the other rocks together, so you can remove the Tunzes, do you think it'll still be a problem, or at least an inconvenience? Im assuming corals will be growing on the upper rocks, and you will have to move those ~1 time a month to clean the Tunzes. Fortunately its real open, so you can just move it down to the floor, but it may be a little stressful? Thats the only negative I can imagine, and it really might not be that big of a deal. It does look terrific.

Inconvenience for sure Joe....!! :p

But i'm hoping a schedule 6 months inconvenience cleaning vs. looking good with hidden pumps !!

Good thing is being such a shallow tank, it's easy for me to do this!! No need to even stand on any stool :p

Ed, just came back from a computer melt-down, and of course I missed EVERYTHING! You move to fast for words, and it looks amazing! I hope I will have half of your success!

What happen?? Hope your computer is fix now!! :p

Great rock scape! Although, I share similar concerns with servicing the streams. Seems like a pain waiting to happen once you have substantial SPS growth.

Thanks oldtimer....I'm sure it will not be easy removing em streams, especially once corals grow out!! :p

By then maybe I need add pumps as the grow out corals can hide the pumps better??

I still got 3 x MP40w at my disposal so can always throw that in when the corals are all grown adults :D

Like the open scape! Looks much more natural than the crowded look...:)

Thanks dailydriven911 - glad you like it. I'm always into "less is more" concept :p

Sleepless night?? who me???

Wasn;'t even thinking about it man...!! :D

Take your time on the scape man as PERFECTION take dedication.(also continues build of expectation........)

Hey Ed, another idea, before the water goes in... Have you ever thought of using pond foam, to cover those outlets towards the end? It looks more like rock, especially when its covered in coraline algae. It doesnt look bad at all how it is, but i figured since you went through so much trouble so you dont have to see any equipment, it may be an option.

WATER IN…

WATER IN…

After the scape is done on Sun, I start to place water in the tank…...

This time I didn’t rent those industrial RO unit for a quick fill as I already was collecting about 200L RO/DI water in my water storage container and 200L of ready SW mix, so which means I only got another 400-450L more to go with my RO/DI unit.

And after 24 hours….

However, this time I used RBS to kick-start the tank.

I also found out that my previous tank was having so much problems was probably cause by fake TMPro salt sold here in China as there is a number of local reefers having the same complains so this time, I order 10 boxes of RBS from HK and got friends to help me to carry them in â€"œ one box at a time!!

At this moment I kick-start all my Tunze pumps to get the cycle going…

And after a couple more hours of the pumps running……

Flow not going to be an issue for this tank. My streams give me tons of flow in this shallow tank. You can see the water surface turbulence and this is without my CL in operation yet !!

I did think of using pond foam actually but as I wanted to keep my rocks to the min (only 100ibs in there now) I was kinda of worried that I might not have enough rocks for natural filtration :eek1:

Will defiantly make my life easier with foam rocks thou' !! :o

That looks great. I've heard reference to that salt often, but don't know much about it. Did you test the water parameters from that batch you mixed up? I'd like to see the numbers.

Thanks Marc - I will let it run for today and then test it later tomorrow morning... :p

ED, what about those apogons Leonardo keep on his lagoon? I think they´re beautyfull schooling fishes.

Those are my dream fishes to have in this tank - I show my LFS the pictures of those fishes & they've never seen them so my chances on getting my hands on them is pretty slim :(

They only have those normal Banggai and Pajama cardinals here and either don't school :mad2:

Nice job ED! Love the aquascape man! That open desert in the center is nice! Its always looks so much better when water is in.

We are plumbing Tim's on Saturday. You and Tim have put the heat on me now to get mine set up! Look what you have done!

So what are you planning for livestock? have you decided on any Tangs?

Threadfin cardinalfish
Scientific name : Apogon leptacanthus

A quite small (maximum length: 6,0 cm) fish, with a transparent-yellow base color; shows three bright blue vertical bands, on its sides, from the operculum to the last ray of the first dorsal fin.
It forms dense aggregations, even with fish of different species, above mounds of branching corals in sheltered bays and lagoons, even in turbid waters. Nocturnal.

Habitat: Back reef

Distribution: Indo-West Pacific, Red sea

Sheet author: MICHAEL TANGHERLINI

If the´re from Indo-West Pacific, maybe you could find them at another saler, i think it´s worth the effort, the´re just beautyful!
