MYSTERY SOLVED

MYSTERY SOLVED

Jeremy â€"œ EAT YOUR HEART OUT!!

MYSTERY SOLVED …..Well, part of it anyway….it’s ALIVE!!

Finally this afternoon both these unknown pieces with a smooth skin actually has PE but did take a while before he opens up…

Coral51.jpg

So with that is there someone out there who can confirm its ID?? I’m still at lost!! The PE looks like leather corals type PE than any acro PE I’ve seen??

Here’s a not very good close-up……..

Coral51copy.jpg

At this moment, I think I’ve score two living fossil Heliopora coerulea in my tank

Not sure how rare they are but this is the 1st time for me to see such colored and almost perfectly shape Heliopora coerulea.

This is what I came out with after doing some research on heliopora
(for those interested to read more about this species)

http://www.wildsingapore.com/wildfacts/cnidaria/others/heliopora/heliopora.htm

Will watch and see if there are signs of a transparent skin/film on the coral to positively confirm the ID.

:lol2:

Well, at least I was right on the ID  I would expect the flesh to become more brown over time, but who knows. Glad to be wrong for once.

Looking back at the pics, it appears that the flesh was very thin and almost translucent at first, hence the "dead" look, but is already getting more brown. When it's fully healthy, it should be a rich brown, with light tan polyps, and white growth tips.

Well, you know how to make it blue again.....

But, people like the dyed anemones as well, until they perish...I'd be happier with a healthy coral:D

Absolutely!

And, yes, it can be fragged easily. Just break a piece off and glue it down.

And I was looking forward to seeing a crazy shaped rainbow monti... :) looks like a cool coral though, and makes a good story too.
