Good lord Ed, that is simply stunning!!!!!! I love your attitude in taking on this build, and you kept me laughing throughout. I knew I was in for a treat with the tank builders feng shui comment, and the tank, and everything else sealed the deal. But.........if you saw my old thread, I'm a stickler for plumbing.......and yours makes me SMILE. I think I've found out how to pimp my next tank.
I absolutely can't wait to see the progress on this "little" beast.

Thanks Jeremy - YES, I did follow your old thread - where do you think I got my influence from?? :D

"What will one nut say to another nut?"

Ummmm..................:wavehand:

Notice, not denying anything.:D

I GOT WATER….!!

I GOT WATER….!!

Now that everything seem to be in place, I decided to put the tank thought the ultimate test - WET TEST

So excited to see water…. Even thou its only fresh water just to check out for leaks and to see if all equipments work as it should.

Water03.jpg

Found about 6 leaks in different sections of the plumbing but nothing serious…. (meaning I can fix it without calling in my whole crew of plumbers from the hotel)

but most importantly my HAMMERHEAD sure pumps out some serious water in my CL!!

I think with salt water, the water turbulence surface will be reduce but still some crazy flow……

Can’t wait for my Omi Flex to arrive for flexibility of flow direction!!

MICRO BUBBLES?

However I do notice a problem…I think my hammerhead seal has sprung a leak as I can see tons of micro bubbles from the CL set-up. I’ve checked all my plumbing again for any more leaks but non-found. Anyway, I’ve contacted my distributor who will be sending me a replacement seal, which hopefully will be here within a week or so.

Meanwhile, another thing I notice is the Hammerhead does ‘humm’ a little too loud for my liking when used as a CL. Not sure if this is cause by the leak seal as I don’t remember it being this loud when I used it as my return in my previous tank?? Could also be from backpressure when being used as a CL??

Any thoughts?

Freshwater is always louder than saltwater, and bubbbles appear with new plumbing. Considering that you painted your plumbing, that could be part of the issue you are seeing at the moment too.

If you have locline, submerge it fully for now. Anti siphon holes must be fully submerged too.

Looking good. Can't help you with the plumbing, definitely my weakness when it comes to fish tanks.

I hate plumbing too... that's why I supervise and got my plumbers to get it done!!

Hate the smell of glues :p

Could be - I'm giving it a day or so to see how it goes !!

The return does not produce any micro bubbles (as far as I can tell) and my anti siphon hole is submerge (right under the water level)

Only micro bubbles are coming from the CL so after a day ro so running, I will see if this is reduce

Another thing I think could cause this is cause I've taken my hammerhead offline for 2 months and didn't soak it prior to used which could cause the seal inside to dry up!!

Water test will be for 2-3 days and if everything goes smoothly, you will see rocks soon.

Have taken a few days off next week to see that this is done :D

Ed, the micro bubbles will reduce once the biofilms establish in the CL ... I had the same thing happen to mine. :)
