We had a wonderful Easter, thanks for asking. I hope you did also.

YES, the grand children LOVED the new tank.
When they went home we had little finger prints all over the glass

I know what you mean - whenever my 5 year old son comes to the tank, I will know as there will be that 'little print' all over the tank :D

TUNZE ROCKS !!

TUNZE ROCKS !!

Well…..order 3 of em Tunze rocks and 2 of them arrived broken in pieces… :mad2:

Word of advice: Not advisable to order Tunze rocks online as they are very brittle and breaks easily.

However, nothing KZ Speed Glue can’t fix….

After 1 day:

KZ glue works like reef-safe cement and once dry; it’s like a rock.

Beautiful Tank Ed. I admire your patience! Cant wait to see future progress on this build.

Patience??? I'm trying to get everything from concept to actual in 2 months :eek2: Won't call that patience

:p

Once those deco rocks are covered in coraline and turn "live" you wont be able to tell. Sucks to see they were still broken, thats gotta be a little bit of a downer.

Yes, I think we are all a little nuts when it comes to this hobby! The amount of money we all spend! But what can you do, are you going to put a price on something you enjoy this much

So true - should be covered in carolline in no time and should then blend with the overall rocks :D

Yup, it suck to see the rocks arrived in several pieces but this ceramic rocks is really crispy and that's why I won't advice to buy online but to pick it up yourself from the LFS, when possible!!

Good thing it was an easy fix, so no issues there !! :p Can't imagine if it arrived completely in small chips !! :eek2: and they are NOT CHEAP too!!

So true....all serious hobbies are expensive IMO :D

TUNZE ROCKS REVIEW

TUNZE ROCKS REVIEW

A simple review of Tunze rocks, for those interested:

Shape:

TunzeRock03.jpg

Reminds me of my frogfish, I used to have…..

Should blend into your rockwork pretty easily and carolline algae should take over the surface in no time.

Size:

“ONE SIZE FITS ALL” - Rock size is standard for all models of Turbelle® stream, apart from nanostream.

What’s Special?

The rocks comes with a special insert to fit smaller pumps perfectly…for 6101 and 6201 models, the special insert is not required to be used as it fit nicely into the hole.

Apart from that, the ceramic material they used is quite heavy (I was surprise with the weight) and easily broken, especially the tail-end part of the rock.

So those rocks will need to go at teh top of rock structure for easy removal to clean pumps? I want to get some but need to wait till next month to relieve the pressure off my melting credit card. My new rock is cooking in tubs currently.

On all the tanks I see running Tunze streams they always seem to be very near the surface? Suprises me ast the Vortechs I had needed to be a minimum of 10" below surface or you get whirlpools/vortexes.

Good lord Ed, that is simply stunning!!!!!! I love your attitude in taking on this build, and you kept me laughing throughout. I knew I was in for a treat with the tank builders feng shui comment, and the tank, and everything else sealed the deal. But.........if you saw my old thread, I'm a stickler for plumbing.......and yours makes me SMILE. I think I've found out how to pimp my next tank.
I absolutely can't wait to see the progress on this "little" beast.

I used both Streams and Vortech MP40w and so true MP40w suck water from top/ under like crazy!!

However, my 6201 do have to be min 8-10" below the surface or you will start to see it sucking in air!! :p
