FISHES….…

FISHES….…

And also saw some beautiful fishes and brought home these two as well….

Not sure which type but very similar to a Rainbow Wrasse â€"œ any Wrasse ID experts out there??

I must have taken like over 30 pictures and this is the best picture I can take of him, as he is super active and already fighting with the gang for pellets within half hour in the tank

And I couldn’t resist adding a unique family member….

Frog fish
RedScorpionfish.jpg

I think it’s an Antenarrius Commerson Frog fish….

Will try to feed it ghost shrimp twice weekly. Love how he stuck himself to my LR with his two sucker-like feet! A friend of mine has one and only need weekly feeding of fish. I heard stories of frog fish eating something 1.5 times their body size

Anyway, I’m placing her in my sump (my multi-purposed tank, which is connected to the main tank) and make that into a species tank for her…!!

CAUGHT RED HANDED!!!

CAUGHT RED HANDED!!!

Oh yeah…found the culprit that is eating away all my mushrooms…. He was munching happily away at my new mushroom rocks… Yummy!! Yummy!! :mad2:

Have to now try to catch out my rabbitfish. Look like I’m going late night fishing tonight :p

The wrasse looks to be an initial phase Cortez Rainbow wrasse (Thalassoma lucasanum.) Shrimp, hermits, small crabs and even small fish will be at risk with it around.

Not planning on any softies but went to have a look anyway and came back with those :crazy1:

Pink Cauliflower - don't know the exact name
Cauliflower02.jpg

Cauliflower03.jpg

The color is absolutely amazing. Hope it can strive in my ULNS

That is a beautiful piece, but as far as I know it is a very heavy filterfeeder. It likes to live in a high-nutrient environment:

Thanks Dave - did a goggle and agree it does look like a semi adult Cortez. So far he has been good with my 2 cleaner shrimps and hermits so let's see how long he stays well behaved.

Thanks Marc - yeah, I read that article and seen lot's of softies in my life but never anything that look like this :D

Will see for the 1st week how it does and if not well, will give it to a friend of mine, which is running a softies tank. Meanwhile, will try to target feed Marine Snow every 2 days and see if it works :rolleye1:

UPDATES…..

Sorry guys a bad picture as I was in a rush and just took a quick snap.

Got him a blue damsel for his weekly meal. Hope the damsel is not too fast for him:D

MORE SPS ARRIVED…

MORE SPS ARRIVED…

Meanwhile, last night got a call and a shipment of cultured corals arrived so off to the LFS again I went like an obedient child and came back with these….

Acro Seriatopora Family:

SPS 12 â€"œ Pink Seriatopora hystrix 1
Birdnest011.jpg

Birdnest02.jpg

SPS 13 â€"œ Pink Seriatopora hystrix II
Birdnest03-1.jpg

Both these Seriatopora seem difference at the way it grows. Even the color is different. I never have any luck with Birdnest so hopefully these two will do well.

SPS 14 â€"œ Yellow Seriatopora hystrix
Birdnest041.jpg

Birdnest04.jpg

A very nice piece â€"œ used to have one in my old tank but RTN on me so hopefully this piece will do better.

Table family:

SPS 15 â€"œ Yellow Table Acro â€"œ can this be a Plana or maybe Cytherea??
TableAcro02.jpg

TableAcro03.jpg

TableAcro01.jpg

Great size too â€"œ about 10-12 cm across…. I want to source for more tables’ type Acros cause in my planned scape, I have a lower section (next to the wier), which I intend to scape into a table island.

Monti Capricornis family:

SPS 16 â€"œ Green Plating Monti Cap
GreenMontiCap.jpg

The rest unidentified Acros….any help here guys??

SPS 17
Acro011-1.jpg

Acro01-1.jpg

SPS 18
Acro021-1.jpg

Acro02-2.jpg

SPS 19
Acro03-1.jpg

This piece has a slight STN at the base…. hopefully it will recover as polyps are slowly coming out

Acro Millie Family:

I think this is a Green with Purple tip Acro Millie
GreenwithPurpleTipMillie01.jpg

Pictures didn’t come out well…

This time the LFS was very nice as they called me first before any other hobbyist so I get to cherry pick, as they felt bad for me in their last shipment!!

Also some nice LPS arrived too….

Acanthastrea Lordhowensis 1
AcanLord.jpg

Acanthastrea Lordhowensis II
Acan.jpg

Not sure if the second one is an Acan or Chalice?? It’s a nice bright Orange piece but too small to properly identify. It was sold to me as an Acan but don’t look like an Acan as there is no feeder at night. I’m leaning toward a Chalice or even a Favia….any thought guys??

Green Bubble
GreenBubble02.jpg

GreenBubble01.jpg

Always wanted to try bubble but was always too lazy to feed it… hopefully twice weekly feeding of brine shrimps or fresh clams will keep it happy and at the same time can feed my Acans as well

Neon Green Frogspawn
NeonFrogSprawn.jpg

About the size of a tennis ball….I’m extremely happy to get back my neon green frogspawn. My previous frogspawn was grown from about the same size to almost the size of a football in 1.5 year so hopefully it will strive well in my new tank and grow and grOW and GROW……

Lots of nice pieces - do you have any money left over for food?

What do corals cost where you are? For example, that one colony that you said was 10-12 cm across, what did that end up costing? It could be an A. plana - but again I'm just guessing. Some corals are easy for me to identify (generally speaking) once they are colony sized.

Big hole in wallet as you can imagine - not much savings left :( Those frag, incl the colony size table cost me about USD50 each :p

WATER PARAMETER UPDATES….

WATER PARAMETER UPDATES….

So, with all the SPS added over the week, let’s see how my water parameters are holding up?

➢ Temperature â€"œ 26.0 degree C
➢ Salinity â€"œ 1.026
➢ Ph â€"œ 8.02 (Light off)
➢ NO3 â€"œ 0.2 (Salifert â€"œ drop from last week 2 â€"œ finally coming down)
➢ dKH â€"œ 6.0 (API test kit â€"œ drop from last week by 1 dKH)
➢ dKH â€"œ 7.0 (Elos test kit â€"œ drop from last week by 1 dKH)
➢ Ca â€"œ 320 (Salifert test kit â€"œ drop from last week)
➢ Ca â€"œ 360 (Elos test kit â€"œ drop from last week 400)
➢ Mg â€"œ 900 (Salifert test kit - drop from last week)
➢ Mg â€"œ 1000 (Elos test kit â€"œ drop from last week)
➢ PO4 â€"œ 0.03 (Salifert â€"œuntraceable)
➢ PO4 â€"œ 0.045 (D&D PO4 â€"œ went back up from last week 0.03)
➢ Potassium â€"œ380 (stable)

As expected a drop in Ca and Mg as I didn’t know my CO2 bottle was empty already….. Anyway, have exchange a new bottle and also increased my Co2 a little so hopefully it will melt the media faster and help increase my Ca, Mg and once this is increase, believe my dKH will also climb up as well…

Will test again for Ca/ Mg and dKH in 3 days time.

Did also a 15% WC compare to my usual weekly 10% WC

NO3 is coming down fast but PO4 went up a little compare to last week

SOFTIES UPDATES….

SOFTIES UPDATES….

GreenLeather02.jpg

Tip of Polys is white/green but the stem is brown…. Opens up like a bouquet of flower… :D the base green color gets less intense as it expand and opens up as you can see from the picture.

Meanwhile, my Pink Cauliflower has shrunk by more than half. I think she does not like my ULNS. Will give it a week more and if not doing well, will move it to my friend’s rich nutrient softie tank to see if it will do better there before it poison my tank!

My froggie decided to post today before I left for work so manage to get a better picture of my froggie…. :p

RedFrogFish01.jpg

The damsel I bought for him is already missing
