Yes, vortech is on full throttle... will readjust the flow pattern once my stream and wavey is back.

Actually thinking of adding another 2 gen2 stream 6105 when it's out in this part of the world for directional flow

That would make it a total of 4 Streams, 1 wavebox and 1 vortech right? That's some SERIOUS flow.. i still cant decide between the wavebox, Vortechs and new streams.

Ouch... Those pumps must have burned a real big hole in your pocket. Is your 180 still up and running or have u torn it down?

Not bought the other 2 stream yet but planning to once it hit this part of the world maybe sometime end of this year...BUT u're right about the HOLE IN THE POCKET

180g is down :D Too much to maintain two reef. Originally wanted to turn that into a FWLR tank but figure I don't have that much time :p

Also did a WC tonight instead of my usual Sunday, as I will be going away on a business trip again tomorrow morning :hmm1:

AWAY ON BUSINESS TRIP

AWAY ON BUSINESS TRIP

OK, I’m going away again for 10 days on another business trip. Again will be leaving my tank to my trusted driver as the tank caretaker!!

OK, checklist of things to-do before going on trip:

Portion Food:
In order not to come back to another tank disaster, I’m going to ask him to feed 1 cube pre-portion frozen brine shrimps twice daily and NO PELLETS as it’s just too easy to overdose on pellets and raise my PO4 like the last time

SW and RO/DI Water:
Prepared a whole 200L fill with SW and another 200L fill with RO/DI water ready for any emergency!!

Top-up Reservoir:
My top-up tank is fill and should last the week with no worries.

Maintenance:
1. Skimmer cup is clean and set to dry skim so no worries about overflow there ☺
2. Magnet cleaner clean and ready for use
3. Anti Siphon hole on return pipe check and clean of debris
4. ATO float clean and check for algae and Calcium build-up
5. LOCK PELLET FOOD: lol:

Zeo Dosing Instructions:
All label with instructions on each bottle with a daily summary of each day’s dosage.

Emergency Contact of LFS and local reefer friends:
Listed on refrigerator door - OK not the best people here to trust but will have to do in-case of any emergency.

My biggest worry is of course POWER FAILURE while I’m away and my driver would not know what to do after!!

Anything I missed?
That’s all I can think off at this moment. Off to pack my bags for the trip now as I got an early flight to catch tomorrow morning …. :wavehand:

Wish me luck guys….!!

And also saw some beautiful fishes and brought home these two as well….

Not sure which type but very similar to a Rainbow Wrasse â€"œ any Wrasse ID experts out there??

I must have taken like over 30 pictures and this is the best picture I can take of him, as he is super active and already fighting with the gang for pellets within half hour in the tank

And I couldn’t resist adding a unique family member….

Frog fish
RedScorpionfish.jpg

I think it’s an Antenarrius Commerson Frog fish….

Will try to feed it ghost shrimp twice weekly. Love how he stuck himself to my LR with his two sucker-like feet! A friend of mine has one and only need weekly feeding of fish. I heard stories of frog fish eating something 1.5 times their body size

Anyway, I’m placing her in my sump (my multi-purposed tank, which is connected to the main tank) and make that into a species tank for her…!!

OMG The wrasse is awesome, what is it called and how much do they go for, also i'm assuming it's reef safe

probably not reef safe in the normal meaning of the word. looks like a shrimp, snail, crab, invert eater, that probably wouldn't hesitate to flip a coral to look for a treat.

The wrasse is called Cortz Rainbow Wrasse...

Its natural diet consists of fish, crustaceans, motile invertebrates, and worms. The diet in the aquarium should include a variety of feeder shrimp, marine flesh, frozen meaty preparations for carnivores, and flaked foods.

So basically coral safe not might not be invertebrates safe... :D but the 2 weeks we was in my tank, he shown no interest in my 2 cleaner shrimps, turbo etc.

I’M CURSE

I’M CURSE

OK, guys, I’m still on my business trip but manage to sneak some time here as I just check-in.

Last night, I took out my Vortech for a good clean and then when I installed back, one of my vortech spin for a few second and then stop!! I was like thinking to myself “***, not again!!” !!” I tried to reset, reprogram, trouble shoot anyway I know how, but was only able to get it to spin for a few seconds. The other pump is humming away.

It seems I never have any luck with whatever pump in my tank as they all seem to find a way to breakdown on me :sad2: In my old tank, I used all made-in-China pumps and they never broke down on me in the 2 years but in this new tank, nothing seems to work!

Anyway, just wanted to rant here…I have posted in the Vortech sponsor forum to see if they can trouble shoot for me :worried:

I’M BACK…MISSED ME ANYONE??

I’M BACK…MISSED ME ANYONE??

Flight delay due to bad weather and finally got back 3am this morning…

First thing I did when I came back to my apartment late last night was to check the LS and see if there are any casualties… also check the condition of the tank and this time all fishes accounted for and corals color seem to have improved :p Only both my Seriatopora hystrix RTN on me. I don’t know why I can’t seem to keep this species as this is the 2nd time I tried and each time it RTN on me

Didn’t do any WC while I was away (can’t trust this job on anyone as there is just too many areas where mistakes can happen) so will do a bigger WC this coming weekend. However, I exchange new carbons today….

Just to get the thread back on track, here is a picture of my over-weight Flamehawk asking everyone to tune in!!

Hawkfish02.jpg

Been an exciting month of September for me with lot’s of LS added and tank getting better, so let’s see what October will bring me as I’m expecting some pretty exciting stuff to arrived for me this month :mixed:

Also did a carbon exchange today.

Vortech updates:
Trouble shoots in the EcoMarine sponsor forum the whole week and still can’t get it to work, as it should so they suggested sending it in…

However, before I do that, I need to get some spare pumps as I presume it will be out for at least a month or two minimums. :mad2:

I was going to say it should be a quick turnaround with Ecotech, but I forgot your quite a ways away from us here... ;)
