Let's see the whole tank finally. After we get to see it, then we may help you with some coral IDs. ;)

The stag looks like a Green Slimer to me, not sure on the scientific name tho.

Could be....I'm thinking slimer too but the branch is thin. My previous slimer used to have thicker branch

Déjà Vu

Déjà Vu

I DON’T BELIEVE THIS!!

Not a very good Thanksgiving for me….

Last night after stuffing myself with roast turkey and hams, went back to feed em and during feeding, as usual all my babies come up to the surface to welcome me and then I somehow notice that there seem to be some fishes missing??

I then did an inventory and then realize that only one of my Pyramids is eating and the other is MIA?? Did a frantic search under rocks, overflow, etc and finally found her pin under some rocks. This is the 2nd time I loss my Pyramid this way?? Cannot understand what could have spooked her as the night before she was eating like normal and was always swimming together with her partner?

Now I’m back to one Pyramid and not sure if I want to try them again…!! :mad2:

Anyone out there have any long term success with em Pyramids?

My Mg is also very slowly creeping down…..

That's sad about your Pyramid, Ed. Was it actually pinned under the rock? Any idea what happened? Your rocks aren't collapsing?

Yeah it's a sad thing Tom. It does not seem pin to the rocks but somehow got caught there...I'm suspecting maybe there is a mantis living in my reef but can't seem to hear any 'clicking' sound as of yet!!

No, the rocks are stable so not cause by that for sure!!

NOVEMBER RECAP

NOVEMBER RECAP

Sorry guys but been away for a couple of days on another business trip…you know how year-end budget is like, especially with this world economy crisis going on!!

Anyway, just thought I would start off the month of Dec with a little recap for Nov…

Well, not as slow as I thought it would be :p ☺ however, I was expecting my Powermodule to arrived but unfortunately still no news from my distributor… ☹ I really need more lights in my tank!! Now that I’m back, will give him a call and see what happen??

Once my powermodule arrived, this month (hopefully) I can start to work on my exhaust in my canopy. Then hopefully I will find time to work on my net cover. Going to postpone my Generator back-up plan project as them generators are damn expensive and I don’t really want to spend any more money than I have to in this difficult economy crisis.

Oh yeah, my 2 Gen2 Stream 6105 is still on waitlist (all paid for 2 months ago) and my 2 broken Stream 6201 and Wavebox is still out of service for close to 3 months now! At least they send me an old Stream 6101 to used temporary first :D

Look like the month of Dec will be a project month for me…. but not sure if I can find time thou with Christmas around the corner lol

I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS?

I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS?

I called my distributor to see what’s going on with my powermodule and he told me he lost his distribution rights to ATI Powermodule here in HK and therefore unable to deliver…he will refund back my money but I’m at lost now as to what to do??

Should I just quickly go with a DYI reflector and hook up 3 x 400w MH with supplement T5 or should I find another distributor for my powermodule???

If to go back to MH, what reflector and ballasts and bulbs I should used?? Lumen Max? Lumenarc III?

Any thoughts guys??

Damn….I’m ****ED

Lumenarc 3 full sized with 400w aquaconnects and 6 t5HO ATI blue plus and 2 Fiji purple bulbs ;)

i recommend using a 400w M-80 ballast.

sucks about the ATI though,

From page one:
Tank Size: L: 200cm x W: 80cm x H 70cm (3-side view Low Iron Glass)

So it is 80 x 31 x 28

I'm really enjoying my Lumenbrights, and I think you've got plenty of headroom to put them over your tank and provide the light with three MH bulbs. We had a good article about them in Reefkeeping Magazine a few months ago:
http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2008-06/review/index.php

I forget what you are using at the moment. Do you have to wait for new lighting to be shipped from the USA, or can you buy it locally?

Well if I still want to go for the ATI, I will have to bring it in from Singapore as there is another distributor in Singapore but I don't know what the waiting time is :(

For Lumenbrights or Lumenarc 3 I will have to order from either Singapore or the US, depending who carries them in stock!! Do you guys think 3 of these 'super' reflectors will be sufficient for the length and width of my tank??

Another Q will also be the type of ballast to used as MH bulbs easily available to me in HK will be the below choices:
- Reeflux
- XM (currently this is what I'm using but find the 10K too yellow for me)

But bulbs are easier to bring in from the US so that's not my major concern but just want to match the ballast to the type of bulbs I used.

Any suggestions/ ideas guys?? If I were to go the MH route, I would like to get a 14K look but at the same time great PAR and growth!!

Another option of course will be to DYI my own T5 and just get the tubes :eek2:

You could do a ton of T5 bulbs, but that is your call. I think the bulbs will add up quickly, when you need that many.

Three reflectors should suffice for the MH, and you can choose to use 250w 10,000K bulbs or 400w 14,000K bulbs. The 14,000K have less PAR, thus you need higher wattage.

VHO or T5 will supplement actinics if it isn't blue enough for you.

Reeflux and XM are both good bulbs - I've used both.
