Wen told me that breeding Clarions "was too easy" and they have no plans to breed more, at least now...
they currently have the cleaner wrasse babies that magically appeared...
hope to learn something at macna...

Well I guess I'm a little behind :lmao:
Personally, I would like to see some breeding of species that would have more of an effect on the hobby... So few people can even dream of affording a Clarion, and if they discontinue breeding because "it's too easy," we can't really hope for the price to come down at all.
Start breeding Red Sea Regals, and I will be happy.
I agree with you.
Not only the price, but the pressure on wild population.
I'm not sure how much damage are we doing in this hobby with collecting wild Clarions, each time they go they get approx 200 specimen, possibly more in case they lose some on the way.
If the "too easy" Clarions will be just a one time deal, we didnt achieve anything, as priceon them will not drop at all, and the wild population will continue getting collected.
Personally I think , it is not too easy, this is just thought I have and nothing based on solid information, I just think that if it was too easy he would have more to sell and he had just a few.
Great post, agree completely. I say bring on more captive bred Clarions since they are so "easy" to rear. Are there anyone else breeding CB Clarions other than Wen?
Hopefully I will have some time to get the camera out before MACNA.
In the meantime here is short video of this spectacular fish enjoying a mid afternoon snack.

Are you allowed to advertise with those iconic golden arches on RC?
