First tank bred Clarion Angels available

Wen told me that breeding Clarions "was too easy" and they have no plans to breed more, at least now...
they currently have the cleaner wrasse babies that magically appeared...
hope to learn something at macna...

I've never had contact with Wen, but I like him already! Challenges before profit is an admirable quality. Definitely would like to meet him and get a tour when I head out that way.

All these beautiful angels make me want a larger system that can house these beauty's. but alas I have what they call a very happy wife now. I don't want an unhappy life!LOL.

Fosters and Smith ...Kevin your company has maintained and always will the highest quality and perfect specimens to showcase on DD. Please continue to hold your self at a higher standard as to only help improve the hobby and its stores worldwide.

Yep, too easy!
I dont want to make too easy money.

Clown fish are much more rewarding ! ;)

Well I guess I'm a little behind :lmao:

Personally, I would like to see some breeding of species that would have more of an effect on the hobby... So few people can even dream of affording a Clarion, and if they discontinue breeding because "it's too easy," we can't really hope for the price to come down at all.

Start breeding Red Sea Regals, and I will be happy.

I agree with you.
Not only the price, but the pressure on wild population.

I'm not sure how much damage are we doing in this hobby with collecting wild Clarions, each time they go they get approx 200 specimen, possibly more in case they lose some on the way.

If the "too easy" Clarions will be just a one time deal, we didnt achieve anything, as priceon them will not drop at all, and the wild population will continue getting collected.

Personally I think , it is not too easy, this is just thought I have and nothing based on solid information, I just think that if it was too easy he would have more to sell and he had just a few.

Great post, agree completely. I say bring on more captive bred Clarions since they are so "easy" to rear. Are there anyone else breeding CB Clarions other than Wen?

None.
There is the Taiwanese farm who're breeding Macs, Blue Lines and Asfurs, sometimes more.
I guess that if they had brood stock they could do it.

Both of them are focusing on food fish, this is where the big money is.
If you breed Epinephelus spp successfully, there's demand to whatever qtty you'll come up with, it's not easy with the viruses they have and the size of the larvae which is much smaller than Angels while the adult fish is so much larger.

Wayne,
Fish is still doing fantastic and is healthier than ever. I am hoping to list the fish very soon!
