OK so after many dips this colony still had some bite marks and since I'm trying this theory ( many old time reefers swear by it) I decided what the heck here we go.Originally posted by Rogger Castells
As always, cabeza dura(you must be Boriqua)
I've tried peppermint years ago when I was experimenting with ways to control AEFW and they did not eat them or their eggs, in fact I even offered them the AEFW in front of them and they will not eat them, On the other hand the camels will climb on my fingers to eat a AEFW!!
I theorized back them that perhaps they were not use to eating this critters due to the fact that peppermint shrimp come from the Caribbean as suppose the Camels coming from the Indo-Pacific were most of our SPS's come from.
Although this two shrimp may look alike they are 2 completely different species and their feeding habits are too
I have had 3 camels in my cleaning station area for a long time, I keep the corals there for weeks at the time, I even have a clam there permanently and the camels or the pipefish has never eating any corals.
yes that may very well be the case but they do go at it.Originally posted by Rogger Castells
Manny as you well know that coral has been under my care in my tank for over 4 months or however long you got it out of yours when you took apart your old tank,
I have done two or three dips to get rid of the AEFW that it had in abundance and later placed it in my frag area were I have the camels to complete the job.
If you did a dip before you place it in the frag tank what you are seeing is the shrimp eating the dying or stunt pods and the natural slime from the stress.
