gasman's059 new build!

I have two carpets and a rbta.

The rbta has been with me for 5 years is the same rock that I specifically picked bc of the large cave like area. Never moved or split .
Lucky perhaps! Maybe it has something to do with location and flow

Gasman very nice progression shots. I like the zoanthids, great colors!!

I have heard mixed opinions on denitrators. Can you comment on your experience with it?

Awesome Manny congrats. I switched to powerbrites as well, well see what happens.

Love your rock work!!!

I dont get how your sand still looks nice yet mine turned into a slab of concrete in 1/3 of the tank. We got the same sand.

Luisgo Saludos!

i've played with many denitrators over the years finally settling on a sulphur that fits in my sump( not my first choice- i really like the natureef units)
IMO takes away another of them factors for a tank when it matures to avoid the typical overstocking and trates accumulation due to in my case lack of vigilance and water changes.

I try to change about 50 gallons every month but sometimes I don't get to it. That and dosing of trace elements every 3 days or so via an automated pump helps me keep track.

Nothing can substitute vigilance and constant water changes but this buys me some time when I can't get to it. IMO it keeps my tank cleaner and promotes a lower nutrient environment.

Yes it does turn into hard patches for sure but there's no blowinf it around either.
On a side note I've got waaay to many frags in the tank that will take some time to grow and cover that aquascape in the meantime PATIENCE is a virtue.

GROW BABY GROW
When tanks mature its pretty amazing IMO how quickly corals decide to simply take off.
Starting to look less and less like a frag farm!
One of this days when I have time I will stop all flow and take some decent pics. For now I hope you guys enjoy this update

Gasman those corals are growing like weed  I like the colors. Polyp extension in the fourth photo is amazing. I will be waiting for new photos with the pumps off. Saludos!

Wow GM I cant wait to see that kinda growth in my tank. looking good you must be pleased. I like the cap on the rear pane. Do you have room for additions? With the swap around the corner whats your plan?

Hey Manny,
Can you tell me what it is you dose (trace element wise)? I was under the impression that with regular water changes and the addition of two part nothing else was needed.
Thanks
Eric

awesome.....love the acro/stag on the right. amazing......whats the wrasse? Some one at a shop told me that he has seen those wrasses pick at SPS?

yup u r right but my water changes at best are irregular. I do dose mag/iodine and have slowly stopped coral food since I only feed our friends brand Rogersreeffood IMo takes care of fish and coral w/o major issues in terms of water quality.

As far as trace I know there's a back and forth between neccesary or not, i do dose then even though I just noticed my bottle is empty!

GO FIGURE not much should be expected to change w/o them lol

Jorge that's a clenear wrasse- had it for 8 months( not usually the case since they all die) but this is an africa one that eats parasites and every other food offered in the tank.

Oh man Manny! Seeing your tank from the eyes of someone putting one together is makes me aspire for the best from the get go. Im hoping one of these days I get a chance to look at it in person. Im very interested in your sump design since I will be putting a new one together.
Ill shoot you a text to see if youre available at all anytime fairly soon.
