^^^Did you get rid of your venustus?^^^

On another note, I'm looking at the BK160 or BK180 minis, and I cannot find any published info on how high the water should be above the base (or pump) of the skimmer...do you know, or what are you running yours at? I want to make a baffle in my sump for it to run at a constant level, and need to know how high it should be.

TIA!

Stun the venustus is in a friends tank as far as the water level on the BK it should not be above 13.
U can get a better answer in the proline forum. Good luck.

Awesome thanks! ....and geez you reply fast! I have something else I want to add but you beat me to it

Im curious as to what is this (red arrow pointing at it)? It appears to be eggcrate? Maybe for a carbon filled sock?

I love the sump plan...nice and simple :D. I think the BK in the second chamber is a great idea to help keep it running a bit better and less cleaning on it. How big are the baffles in there - just curious as to how you plan on removing the detrius...shop vac?

TIA!

That eggcrate will hold filter pad that will take care of detritus prior to the chamber.

This helps with the simplicity- just throw away the filter pad and place a new strip every so often, no sock cleaning and so forth.

The piece you see there is an egg crate, You can use it for carbon as well as a simple particle filter using a filter pad, you also use it to polish the water if you add a 100 micron pad underneath the filter pad, the small lip on top of the egg crate act as a de-gaser and forms a even cascade for the water to fall on the middle of the pad as a water curtain.

DUDE!

Thats such a great, simple idea! I love it! :D

How will the eggcrate be attached to the acrylic? Will it be removable/replaceable?

I'll shut up now and wait for the finished product...

A lil bit of an update:
Got some 3/4 inch plywood and foam and painted it to sit the tank on.

Hoping to pickup the tank tomorow and get it on the stand.

Here's some pics

Finally got some time off and decided to go see my baby. My tank is pretty much done.
1/2 inch all around and 3/4 bottom. Double eurobraced with "floating bottom"

Its pretty much all done and water tested just need some cleaning and removal of excess silicone as well as finish the overflow cover and viola.
I should be able to get the tank home within the week and then the fun starts, more planning and playing.

Here's some crappy pics with my phone.

And a couple of pics to illustrate what I mean by a floating bottom.
Not the best but hopefully u guys get the idea.

looking good, can't wait to start plumbing
U and me both.
Hopefully time permitting we will get some done this weekend.

Lulio there IMO a definite advantage in terms of flexibility as far as d tank goes. What I mean by this is that the bottom of d tank is flexible and expands from side to side if need be.
With a regular bottom that portion with any irregularity can cause the bottom to crack cause it can't expand with the regular design. Thus imho provides the tank with extra security

Back in d day dolphin aqauriums used to make tanks only with floating bottoms
Its been a while lol

Since there's no perfect suface for the bottom of the tank even using foam to correct the irregularities this method imo is far superior.

I believe u can look up undersize bottoms as another name for this manufacturing techique. Hth
