Since there's no perfect suface for the bottom of the tank even using foam to correct the irregularities this method imo is far superior.

I believe u can look up undersize bottoms as another name for this manufacturing techique. Hth

Dude...I googled what you said and found this.........  You explained its purpose well, but does this mean there are 2 bottoms or that the bottom is positioned differently to compensate for irregularities? ie glued to insides of sides instead of bottom??

""A method of constructing an aquarium with vertically spaced, unitary rigid top and bottom frames having perimetrically extending continuous open slots, and separate glass side panel sections to be sequentially received by one of the frames, wherein the frames themselves function as jigs during assembly, and afterward also function as jigs to hold the assembled aquarium in rigidly assembled disposition until the sealant used to assure a waterproof assembly can be cured in a curing step..................."" :uzi:

LMAO

It means that the side panels are glued to the side of the bottom instead of on top of the bottom panel, thuss providing a surface that will accomodate any irregularities from the stand/foam or plywood when the tank is filled.

LOL, thanks for looking it up Aquaman, that's pretty funny. This is pretty interesting. I have been in this hobby for a very long time and built several tanks and I have never heard of this before. I am in total shock that this never occurred to me. This has me jonesing to build a floating bottom tank, lol. You really do learn something new everyday in this hobby. I just cant believe I have never come across this before.

tHanks Gas/Aqua "men" ...you have definitly sparked my curiosity, something that usually leads to a lot of spending, lol

cheers

Update!

Update!

First of all thx to Damian/Raul/Ricardo/and Hillary for the help with the tank.

Had to tear down some wall trimming but no major damage to get my tank into the office.

As far as the rest all is here- sump is on the way and all equipment is accounted for. So now play time really begins.

A couple of pics.

:D I'm eagerly awaiting the build completion. I can't even imagine a tank that you got a second chance at building. Everything that was right in the first tank I'm sure will be perfect this time, and everything not so right will be right if not perfect as well.

Thanks for the update!!

Oh, and are you getting an ORA sponsorship with that sticker in the bottom right in the pic above? I would hope they'd be smart enough to sponsor your tank, since it'll be a showcase for them anyway. Soo exciting :)

LOL no sponsor 4 sure.

Erick-the tank has met every one of my criteria, and its a lot of fun to be involved even building some aspects of the glass and so forth.

I looked it up on the web and it said 7x7x21.5 If it is bigger, I can change the footprint. It is PowerPoint, so all of the dimensions can be changed and the parts (such as the eggcrate) can be moved so the builder can see where to place the suports. I put them every 4" since the egg crate and filter pad do not weigh much.

Also I did not know if the ATO was hanging over the side (Like the Level-Loc system) or through the side. Also, the inlet / return sizes and placement.

If you want changes, I can E-mail the .ppt or make the changes and repost.

Bawla I will be using the sulphur instead of the other denitrator for space issues and nothing else.

The aquaripure unit is simple and very efficient!

And then there was light!

And then there was light!

I was not expecting this pendant to cover as much area as it does.
Very impressed with the coverage and dead silent!
This pic is 2 mins after I turned it on- no photoshop or balance, pic taken w/o adjustments with the same camera.
