Giesemann Lighting Club.

I also forgot to mention. Thanks for letting me use your trailer to move all the cool fish gear, giesemann light, and killer Reef Savvy Rimless to my house. I owe you one! I will post pictures of the light and tank soon.
Thanks again good buddy!!! :dance:

There's nothing more sexy than a geisemann light with a nice rimless Reef Savvy tank underneath it! Thanks Felix for making such a sexy - perfect tank.
:love1:

Could be a number of issues. Swap out and try two known working T5 tubes. If that doesn't work it might be a ballast or wiring issue.

Ballasts are pretty easy to replace. Wiring is pretty easy to check too.

Thank you & sorry for not responding sooner. It ended up being a bad bulb. All is good now.

Giesemann Lighting Club.

Finally got the opportunity to hang my new Infiniti! A thing of beauty? Very happy with this fixture.

I have the 4ft Infiniti over my tank. I also have a 6ft Spectra. I took the Spectra down to experiment with another setup. Im using a 4ft Infiniti coupled with two Radion Pros on either side. My tank is a Reef Savvy Rimless 250 gallon. I think the Infiniti provides more than enough coverage on a tank 20-22 inches in depth and 30 inches or less in width. The single ended Spectra, however would be better in a deeper tank depth of 30 inches or deeper with a tank width of greater than 30 inches.

I have the Luxcore performance series Electronic Ballasts, fast start up, low heat, and dead silent. They're anodized extruded aluminum and have a selectable wattage. I love these ballasts and have been awesome and definitely worth the money.

I have a rimless as well and my tank hasn't overheated with either fixture. My water stays around 78-80 degrees year around. I do however live in Idaho where the summers are hot and winters are cold. Never had an issue with heat transfer because my AC unit keeps my house @ 74 degrees in the summer. I also think the rimless tanks keep the heat transfer down a lot more and help significantly.

I like the fact of running the best of all worlds. T5's, metal halides, and LED's. I ended up buying Jellymon's Infiniti that he posted a few pages back with the Reef Savvy 120 gallon. I got lucky and bought his entire setup from him as he decided to go to another Project.

Thanks Jellymon for the tank setup. Its awesome.! I hope your Impala works out.

Many thanks! Just to be sure, you are using 150w or 250w bulbs on the infinity? And when you mention it would be more than enough for a 20-22inch deep tank, which bulb are you referring to?

Again, many thanks for such a detailed and informative answer!!!

Yea I am interested in the new vervve too!

I would like to try them..
I just sold my Matrixx since I got a bigger tank and those were my first choice but they are a little out of my price range right now. I ended up installing Kessils which I got cheap but I am not completely sold on the Kessils with only one cluster, it is going to require allot more fixtures in the long run to help with the self shading.. The Kessil do have the best cluster but that really is where it ends.

The Vervve really is not that expensive compared to others. Who knows I may end up with another Matrixx, problem is for a 6' aquarium it is special order. Also with the T-5 it is pushing the power available for the aquarium since I have a much larger tank now and that is why i am looking led.

I picked up a 24" Infiniti and it's a beauty. It's currently installed with a 150w ballast but I plan to upgrade it. I've looked in a few places and I've seen it listed that it can be upgraded to a 400w ballast, but others list 250w. This will be going over a 93g cube 30x30x24.

Also, this appears to be an older unit in fantastic shape. While swapping out the MH ballast, I was thinking about upgrading the t5's as well. I found an earlier post to separate the t5 channels to allow a more even control of the lights. With that said, I currently only have one wire coming from my unit. I figure it shouldn't be difficult to rewire it, but again, if I'm going to rewire, I figure why not install dimmable ballasts.

Any thoughts about either upgrade?

I bit the bullet and bought a Giesemann Spectra 24"! I missed having MH since I was never fully satisfied with LED. Looking for more coverage and I found myself constantly fiddling with the LED settings.

I can't wait to get the fixture!!! It will be hung over my Leemar Rimless 36x30x18.

Im interested on getting a 48" unit for a 5' tank I have in the works. Im in between the Infinity and the Spectra... What is the difference? Is it just the MH DE vs SE?

The Spectra seems to have larger MH reflectors or is that me? It also looks a bit sleeker than the Infinity?
I plan on adding 2x Kessil A160's to the ends and an A360W in the middle grid spaces as shown here in this thread before. Are the spaces between the MH reflectors the same in both units of same size(48")?

Thank you for all help.

I'm planning a similar setup. 42" long tank and a 24" spectra and either two kessil 160s or 360 on either end. From what I have read the reflector on the spectra is superior to the infinity but I haven't run either yet. But since I need to cover more spread than your setup I will go spectra and spend the extra dough.

My tank is a reef savvy and won't be ready until the fall do I will follow your build closely.

From what I've read around the Spectra is the way to go for sure. The reflectors are indeed larger to accommodate longer SE bulbs. Not to mention with that fixture we can run Radium bulbs which is an awesome deal :)

I researched/used LOTS of lighting systems out there, and this fixture, adding Kessils for blues, has all benefits:

-Mh radiums which are proven excellent for growth and color;

-T5's for coverage and no shadowing;

- Kessil for the BEST BLUES/shimmer in the hobby;

-Sleek, elegant fixture.

At Reefapalooza NY, Coralvue was showing off s new LED/T5 hybrid Giesemann light. Here are some pics.

perfect! Vervve with t5.

did you get a chance to see it over a filled tank? how was the shimmer?

this might be my first hybrid fixture purchase unless Kessil puts a hybrid out.

I saw this fixture in person and was not impressed. Looked cheap for a giesemann fixture IMO

if it looks like it does in the picture above, it looks good enough for me. very interested because of the BRS PAR spread results.
