The light you have is the best combination you will find, by far. T5/halide combo is tge bees knees. If your growth is lacking, you need to look at your water quality.
My guess is that your growth is pretty typical, especially if you have mosrly frags. It can taje months to a year for some frafs to take off.
Take pictures. You look at your tank everyday. You don't notice small changes day to day and thus, your coral don't appear to be changing.
Thanks Kevin,
I didn't mean to sound like I was complaining about the Metal Halide growth over my display. I wasn't, I was only trying to say that over my frag setup I cannot use multiple types of lighting. My options are limited to all t5s, a single 250w metal halide bulb, or leds. It has more to do with electricity than anything else.
My current fixture pulls 96w in t5 and 330w in metal halide so nearly 425-450w by itself. My circuit is a 20 amp circuit but there are other things on it besides my tank. When I look at upgrading the electrical because I run Bussmann fuses on my house still it would cost me 3-4 grand just to switch from fuses to breakers and another thousand or two to rewire the tank room. I am just looking for a cheaper method for now until I can afford the electrical work on the house.
