Giesemann Lighting Club.

Hey there! I could use a little help regarding my bulb combo. I have a 6 bulb giesmann t5 fixture with these Bulls:

3 x Giesemann Powerchrome - aquablue coral - blau 54 W
2 x Giesemann Powerchrome - super actinic - 421 nm aktinisch 54 W
1 x Giesemann Powerchrome - super purple - weißviolett 54 W

The light is a bit too White/ red for my taste and I would like some ideas to make the light a bit more bluish, if that males sense? Without loosing too much PAR.

I bet it is very white. I would replace one of the aquablues and one of the actinics with actinic blues to start. Many people run 4 Actinic Blues, 1 Purple and 1 White. ATI has a chart for suggest combos using their blubs. IMO...the charts ATI suggests are not near as blue as claimed.

Shred, do you have a full tank shot with that Matrixx? Looks great.

Actually no.
I still have the Matrixx but I am going to put it up for sale.
I just upgraded to a bigger tank.

This is my new tank and the Matrixx is still over it but it is 2' too short.

I really debated on how to light the tank. I was thinking of dropping a led fixture on each end, I thought about a new Matrixx but they do not come in 72" fixture.

I love the matrixx and everything about it.

Corals grew like wildfire under it. I had a capricornis in less than 3 years grow to 15" across, it was initially under my ATI powermodule.. Colors were awsume, was easily my favorite fixture..

This pic was taken a few months ago.

this was while it was over my 75 gallon:

both those were grown from frags too...

Yea I debated how to light the bigger tank.
But in the end it came down to power.

It really would take two Matrixx to cover the new tank and that is to many bulbs to deal with.

Bigger tank required more efficiency so I needed to go LED.
Wanted to try the Giesemann VerVve but it was just a little more than what I wanted to spend. Looks like a great fixture. I still like T-5 lighting better than led though.

Thanks a lot David. That growth is what I am hoping for.
I am expecting the dimmable fixture in 2 weeks so let's hope.
Your new tank looks promising. Nice rockwork for good growth.
Love the anthias!!! Good luck.

Is there anybody who knows how to install the FuturaBT software on a Mac or ipad?
I have downloaded the zip-file from the Giesemann website, but my IT knowledge does not go any further.

Hi everyone! I am about to jump into the club and was wondering if some of the experts here could help me out [emoji4].

My tank will be 210x55x55 centimeters. I would like to go for the 8x80w bulb Matrix ii Dimmtec but the coverage from this light is only 180cm. And since I will have rock leaning against one side of the tank I am concerned that this would leave too much of a dead spot on the other side of the tank...

So I am also considering the 6 foot infinity, with 3x150w HQI and 4x80w T5. Now, I have never used MH before so my questions would be:

1- would the 150w MH be enough for SPS in this tank? It is only 22inch deep...

2- I am in Europe and the infinity comes as standard with magnetic ballasts, with external electronic ballasts as an option. Is this option worthwhile? What are the advantages of having external electronic ballasts?

3- heat: would a fixture such as this create heat problems and require a chiller? The tank will be rimless with no canopy and the fixture free hanging.

Many thanks!

I just purchased an Infiniti 72".
On my first day of operation. The front two T5 bulbs went out after approx. 9 hours of operation. Any ideas?

I plan on switching the bulbs with the other side & seeing if it's a bulb issue or ballast. What do you guys & girls think?

Could be a number of issues. Swap out and try two known working T5 tubes. If that doesn't work it might be a ballast or wiring issue.

Ballasts are pretty easy to replace. Wiring is pretty easy to check too.

I have the 4ft Infiniti over my tank. I also have a 6ft Spectra. I took the Spectra down to experiment with another setup. Im using a 4ft Infiniti coupled with two Radion Pros on either side. My tank is a Reef Savvy Rimless 250 gallon. I think the Infiniti provides more than enough coverage on a tank 20-22 inches in depth and 30 inches or less in width. The single ended Spectra, however would be better in a deeper tank depth of 30 inches or deeper with a tank width of greater than 30 inches.

I have the Luxcore performance series Electronic Ballasts, fast start up, low heat, and dead silent. They're anodized extruded aluminum and have a selectable wattage. I love these ballasts and have been awesome and definitely worth the money.

I have a rimless as well and my tank hasn't overheated with either fixture. My water stays around 78-80 degrees year around. I do however live in Idaho where the summers are hot and winters are cold. Never had an issue with heat transfer because my AC unit keeps my house @ 74 degrees in the summer. I also think the rimless tanks keep the heat transfer down a lot more and help significantly.

I like the fact of running the best of all worlds. T5's, metal halides, and LED's. I ended up buying Jellymon's Infiniti that he posted a few pages back with the Reef Savvy 120 gallon. I got lucky and bought his entire setup from him as he decided to go to another Project.

Thanks Jellymon for the tank setup. Its awesome.! I hope your Impala works out.

I also forgot to mention. Thanks for letting me use your trailer to move all the cool fish gear, giesemann light, and killer Reef Savvy Rimless to my house. I owe you one! I will post pictures of the light and tank soon.
Thanks again good buddy!!!
