Clearly ginger does cure ick.

I know because last year I had a cold and I drank some gatorade and just 4 days later my cold was cured. This is just like that so clearly ginger does work to cure ick!

6 months that didn't take long to come back. BTW I grew some spicy basil this summer that works for ich as well. I mix a vinaigarette with the basil some chives and a little tarragon. Soak the fish in this and all is better.

Yea, I like my fish marinated in vinaigrette, basil, chives and tarragon too. They taste much better than way!

Bluefish are fun to catch from the surf .I've caught many on Long Island , Block island and North Carolina's Outerbanks. Oily and fishy to eat though. An old salt gave me a special recipe. You filet it , cook it over an open fire on a piece of pine board, marinate it with a mix of special spices, sauces and herbs every 10 minutesf or about 2 hours. Then you eat the board and throw way the fish.

That old salt just wanted to watch you pick the splinters from your teeth ;) :D

Bluefish is good eating if you like fish with some flavor. A truly good recipe, mix mayo and horseradish half and half, slather on top of the fillet and broil. Quite tasty, or you can keep eating the pine boards while I enjoy the bluefish fillet :D

This. I will pass on the pine boards, although I am sure the fiber content is beneficial.

Ginger also works very well with coconut milk. Soak the filleted bluefish for a few hours, then pan fry. YUM!!

How do you guys know the pine boards don't work if you haven't tried them? I eat one a week and never had ich. There must be something in the combination of the fish oil and spices that prevents it. I never saw a bluefish with ich. I think , I'll start rinsing my plate of in my sump as a preventative for my tanks.

Brb, grilling some pine now to ward off Brook for the next 10 years.

Besides reducing inflammation, ginger has many other benefits. It helps relieve nausea, destroys a host of viruses, and in some laboratory studies has shown promise as an anticancer agent....laugh all u want suckas!! My prize fish are still alive and kikn....hec,when I lived in South Korea the old guys swore by this stuff .

Whose a sucka? Name calling doesn't make a point it just reflects back on the character of the person doing it.BTW, I'm not laughing . I'm sad that useful treatments have not been provided.

Nevertheless, I say Ok I'll put a little ginger on the pine board, maybe some garlic too .I already use chilli pepper, onions and cinamon, some soy sauce and rice ;anything else?
Why do you think this method won't work? Do you think the old guys in Korea use it for ich ? Do you think they know more than the old salt? I never had ich. BTW my fish don't either.

Wait it also cures HIV?

well the rest of my fish survived with Ginger treatment, even my Foxface which was starting to die on me......thats all I got to say about that......

Ok well your talking about a foxface ... Not exactly a difficult to care for fish. Who has tried ginger with a Achilles tang or a Clown tang? Pipefish, orange spot filefish, Moorish Idol.... Anything that isn't a damsel, clown or other hardy fish? I heard that gasoline also works to cure ich...:eek1:
Here are the 3 methods that work for curing ich... Copper, cupramine, and chloroquine phosphate... Anything else is unproven and/or very difficult and stressful on tank inhabitants

Tank transfer is my personal method of choice for acclimation and preventative treatment.

I'm the original poster. I've still never lost a fish when using ginger. Had a heater stop working and ich showed up on a tang, then a couple more fish. 2 days of ginger and all was normal.
